VSS signal to VEMS EC18-8

Hi everybody,

I am preparing to install the VEMS kit I bought a long time ago at great expense. In hindsight, it would have been better to just buy a PnP unit from Marc. What's done is done.

I have laid out the harness I have in the engine bay on my AEB. A few thing are clear: The connector for the CLT sensor is round, not square. The VSS connector is rounded, not square. I also have an unknown connector. I think this harness was made for a later gen engine (b6? transverse 1.8t?)

So, the issues:

1. The CLT connector issue I can fix by just getting a round connector sensor. Should just fit right in the old style sensor place.
2. The VSS connector is a little more complicated. Do I a. cut off the current rounded connector on the VEMS harness and splice in the square connector? Or b. Can I buy a (later) rounded style connector VSS and bolt it into my trans?
3. Unknown connector with 3 pins. No idea what it is. Do I need it?
4. TPS does not have the idle wires in it. IIRC, Marc said not really needed on an AEB, just adjust timing/idle speed.
5. There is a loose wire in the harness labeled FPR. I assume this is for a fuel pressure sensor. Correct? Do I need it?

I have marked the connectors in the overview picture. Please comment.

Oh yeah, I want to get this running on my stock turbo AEB first. I plan to go to a TD04HL-13G or an IHI RHF55V in the future.

The F55V is an internally gated, 60mm ball bearing turbo I can get new here for cheap.

I think the unknown connector might be the AC pressure switch. Thoughts?

The connector matches. I say this because the other connectors seem to be B6 style.

3 pin near coils would be cam signal?

The cam sensor is near injector 1.

To update:

The connector I labeled VSS is not VSS, but the crank position sensor. I is a VEMS n00b.
I have ordered the rounded style green CLT sensor (B6) and crank position sensor (B6) from ECS.

Today I managed to trace all wires to the EC18 and EC36 connectors, except the 3 pin connector I believe is the AC pressure switch. Its not wired to the EC connectors. Cannot find what it connected to.

Any ideas?

Finally traced it. The small 3pin connector is for vehicle speed. A unterminated wire pair labeled Speedo is connected to it.
However, it does not go into the VEMS ECU. So, don't really need it I think, since the VSS is already going to the speedo gauge in the dash.

yes just tap that signal from cluster and send it to ec18 pin 8 for wheelspeed analog in.

that 3 pin grey d shape with keyway is a crank positon vr sensor

Is that really all I need to do? No need to check voltage or see it the ECU is set up for this? Or is it default?
