Hi everyone,

I'm posting here to know if anyone has a good idea/tip/solution for the B2 (seems like it's the same on B3) suspension mounting cups ?
I'm not sure about the "term", I'm refering to this (#20) :

I'm having issues with the current aftermarket mounting cups I found, it wears off really quick (flattens and/or the bearing dies).
I talked about this with some Audi mates, seems like they're having the same experience when pushing "hard" (in axial direction on the struts).

A know a few people replacing theirs every year, mine just lasted 6 month (on the right side), different brands were tested (KYB, Febi, SKF, etc) without a significant change.

I know those things are cheap but it's just annoying to replace them this often. I was wondering if anyone did "something" about those ? I can recall seeing some kind of "tough-mounting cup" but can't remember where it was (and could find it around here).

Anyway, if anyone could help, It would be great !

They have a good rep, lots of guys on S2Forum are using them.

Be prepared for more NVH while driving, however. Just as you would from any solid mount (like the CompBrake units, for instance).

Hi and thanks ;)

Fact is that I'm currently looking for the best that could fit on my car according to this : longevity>comfort=efficiency.
I'm ready to sacrifice comfort and/or efficiency I can get rid of this trouble, but I'd like to keep homogeneity with the rest of the stuff I used when rebuilding my car (I'm afraid "something else" behaves like a fuse instead of the top mounts afterwards).

I went through several posts about those, OEM/URQ ones/MeyleHD, seems like that's not an option, feedbacks says that URQ & MeyleHD are wearing ~ the same as OEM ones ...
I'm still exploring the other few options that I'm aware of, I'm thinking about 034 top mounts but I haven't found trustworthy feedbacks yet.

Problem is that my "playground" with this car is mostly composed of curvy-bumpy roads so I can't 100% rely on "track stuff" (harshness I mean) since it would be a mess. If I could use a unit of measure, I'd say I'm currently looking for "street designed stuff", like 15 to 25% stiffer than OEM, that's it.

IF 034 has gotten their mold corrected, they might be a viable option for you. In the beginning, they were pretty good, but as of late, they went to crap with the rubber not being molded correctly and being to small.

I may end up going with Motorsport top mounts myself with the coilovers I'm planning to put on my 80q. I'm not a big fan of having the aluminum beating on the steel body though. Where I live the roads are notoriously bad, so you need to have some kind of damper to keep the body work together.

Damn those AK units are tits, I would have used those in my 4k if I had known about them. Everything else was solid anyway.

I can't remember if I had meylehd or 034 units in there... But it was one of the two. They lasted the year I had them in the car before I sold it so I can't say much beyond that.

Ye in that case, no doubt it would've been the accurate choice !
