started August of 2008 with this here....

ended up with this here in the spring/summer of 2011

648whp/508tq 38psi e85

car made 4 passes down the track that fall, went best et of 11.1@133 and best MPH was 11.8@137, on 225 street tires.
winter of 2011

Spring 2012

plans for 2012 season are a bit more power, not that its needed but 700 was the goal when the project began...and why fiddle sticking not right?
wider street rubber in hopes that the car can go mid 10's on STREET tires, i believe the current Audi record for that is 10.8. then to kiss the 9's on some slicks, and after that just cruise around the streets and enjoy the car. a front torsen diff to replace the stock open one. new paint, new engine bay scheme, new interior setup/dash and have more fun.

Well, I might need the TPS on the bottom of the throttle body if you are willing to sell that to me.

i am doing the same thing, zerb.. but into a CQ. with one of the 3 AEB's.... and keeping the rabbit, too. just gutted the coupe over the weekend..... what is your tranny plan? i am going 5 spd 01e.... and S2 axles from England.
gonna make brackets and such.... trans, motor, etc. i gotta keep an eye on this, you may be working ahead of me

LOL

im keeping whatever tranny came in the car, i believe 01a( in new with this audi lingo so im not 100 percent here) and stock axles and whatnot for the time being. i bought another 90q that had a nice full leather interior that im swapping into the car that im building, and im going to take the tranny out fot that, axles, rear, and have those all as extra parts if something breaks.
as far as engine mount brackets, since you have the 058 block, you just need
8A0 199 307 F = LEFT engine mount bracket
8A0 199 308 J = RIGHT engine mount bracket
and those should bolt right to you block and right into the car without mdoification. as for me, since i have an 06a block, the passenger side bracket is the same story, but ill need to 'modify' the drivers side bracket that i got, which i got out of a b6 passat.

yeah.... it is 01A... and i am new to this swap too. you saw Issams page on Poortex about the 1.8T into these cars i take it?
my mounts are all custom, as i am going the 01E (longer/stronger) and it will move the motor forward an inch or so. either that or relocate the rear diff, or run a shorter propshaft. this is the easiest move for me.
but i gotta watch your progress, to see how you are doing things.... what is the planned usage of the car? mine is about the same reasoning as you, no traction. but drag race only for me.

Great to hear about your project. I have one in mind also, although all I have done is to acquire the engine. A couple of things I've determined: the power steering pump on the 7A is 2 stage to provide pressure for the steering and the brakes. I assume you'll use the power steering pump that is stock to the AEB engine as it uses the serp belt, but that pump is only one stage. I have already converted my B3 to the vacuum assist brake booster that is stock on the 20v B3 so I only need a one stage pump. I think the AEB pump will work with the power steering hoses that come with the B3 chassis. Also, keep in mind that whatever tranny you use has to match the final drive ratio of the rear diff. I plan to use the stock B3 tranny for now.
One beautiful thing about the 1.8t in this chassis is the vast amounts of space that is available for an intercooler.

i did see issams swap yes, and ive chatted with him on aim for countless hours as to how to go about this, lol. the car will be multi functional at the end i hope, main reason...just like you, is because having over 300whp in a fwd car is only so fun for so long. it will be dragged, but im hoping to get to limerock and have some fun up there too.
as far as the p/s pump, i was planning on using the stock 1.8t pump, which is serp belt driven as you said. but i have not figued out just WHAT to do yet with the brake booster, but from what youve said you did, that sounds like a good route to me...converting it over to vacuum assist.
i have a rather large front mount, precision 750 core, so ill be needing all the space that i can get.

thanks man, it seems as if all you need is a vac brake setup ot of a b3 90 20v...which is exactly what i have sitting around as a parts car.

so ill be stripping the brake stuff of that and getting rid of that hydraboost. what are you doing for abs? you going to keep it or get rid of it? mine works as far as i know, but i think the bay looks a bit cleaner with that huge box out of there, so i may just loop the lines and get rid of it.

i dumped the ABS as well. will even run smaller brakes too, if needed..... i dumped everything out of the car..... i keep the dash, though....
so a B3 90 20v is the ticket on the brake booster?
i am even dumping the PS, going to a Fox manual rack. another drag car never destined for the street.....
welded center diff. permanent locked rear diff.... stiff ass springs (800 rr, 600 frt).
we will see...
here is some pix of my start.

i saw that post earlier....good schit man. ill be swapping interiors soon i believe, im on the fence though about putting a cage in the car while the interior is out, cause that seems like the logical thing to do. as far as the brake booster, that does seem to be the ticket, but i will be sure to take many pics and let you know how that part of the swap goes once i get to it. do you happen to have any pics of the front of your block? im curious as to how different the mounting bosses are from the 06a block to the 058 blocks....

haha...those are THE exact two swaps that ive read through page for page. i was really looking for the 20v motor swapped into the b3 chasis. i just havent seen one in the US, thats why i ask.

by speeding-g60
yeah, those were the only two i read thru as well... i do not see the difference, though, really. and vagrant mugens' swap IS into a B3... 80 is B3 right?
