Got the drive shaft back and they said the U joint was off center because it was overhauled at some point and not assembled with the correct machine that presses the cups in at the same time. They also tried to tell me someone "added" the retaining clips and this was part of the reason it was off center. Funny, it is a 4kq drive shaft and all of them have the clips. I call BS and will find a new shop.

Greg fortunately had just finished bragging the night before about his score from the junkyard a mint 4kq center drive shaft so I begged him to sell it to me :)

Here is one of the many projects going on.. Prototype Air intake.

I was going to run this as is, but the plastic is just too close to the header so I am going to duplicate it in sheet metal.

BTW, the air filter goes inside the canister :P

OMFG, that is exactly what I am building. I would still need to modify that one, so I think i am going to just keep at my original design.

Hank, yes the bolts clamp the top cover to the 7" tube. I need a way to get to the air filter, and this will be a ram air so it needs to be well sealed. I think I am going to take a long lunch in the garage with the welder and come up with something more to show you guys.

A sock would be way more comfortable "bulge enlargement modification" than an air intake........

OK, I got a little distracted on building a new heat shield. I needed this in place anyways before I could accurately place the intake

The car didn't skip a beat at the Buttonwillow event, 40 minute track sessions @ 105 degrees, I was very impressed. I got tired before the car did!

Here is the finished intake, it is ugly, but I think it works very well. It was hard to tell if there were any gains on the way to the track because it was so hot, but on the way home after the weather cooled down it was very noticable on the freeway. Boost definitely builds sooner and even in 6th gear I get pretty brutal passing power at 3000 RPMs.

I finally got some awesome looking welds on my last 5" of bead, but it works so :P

Any change in intake volume (sound) with that setup? Or pictures of where the duct opens to on the bumper? Or pics of it in the car? That's slick.

Yes, the car is quite a bit quieter, but I still get a nice turbo whistle.

Here are some more pics

Jim - I take it that you won't be taking the vomit comet grocery shopping or to the local home improvement or hardware store?

For anyone who has never seen a B3 90 trunk, it makes a good second glovebox. (probably smaller than a 4000 trunk.)

Seriously. The position actually works perfect, it will hold my toolbox in place, allow for one bin of crap in front of it, my jack on the side, and random crap on top.

Plus don't forget they completely redeemed themselves by adding a ski bag. Yea right!

Gah, one more question here--is that one of the cheapo fiberglass RS2 bumpers? How did it end up fitting/looking once in paint?

Yes, it fits fine for my tastes but it did take quite a bit of work to get right.

On another note, I just took a blast down the road with the Meth injection, @ 62F outside. I am actually speechless. The car actually gets loose and squirmy on the interstate, and the speedo moves like I am in second gear, but from 70-100. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Hank, you better bring that E85 because I have a little surprise for you :dur:
