i hate every gauge mount and location i have ever seen (esp pillar pods) so i made something i like and mounted where i like. it actually matches the texture and color pretty well, and no ugly mounting screws showing.
egt with knock light in pod and boost gauge end up tucking in enough so i can read my whole dash. 8)

i did some research and i am pretty happy with the turbo i settled on. that is 6 or 7 psi showing and gets to 10psi by about 2700 RPM. i am sure my exhaust manifold design helps a bit, but...not bad response for a cheap sleeve bearing turbo capable of touching 400hp, huh?

also when i ordered my 034 package for my CQ. i was not told that the 034 VR sensor bracket would not work with my ac- that i wanted to keep. i designed my own VR bracket and made it at work in my spare time. it clears the ac stuff and allows full swing of adjustment too. Javad let me return the 034 bracket so that was 8)

as some of you know my first experiment with cycle cop was limited to 15-20 psi (temp dependent) even though i did what i could with the dwell time (glad i could change that). SO i modified some different coil on plug coils and installed them to see how far they would get me. at my current boost control setting of 20 psi they are working very well. it is now effen cold here and the roads are salty so in the spring time i will see how far i can take them toward my goal of 30-36psi. that will be what really separates the men coils from the boy coils. i think it is worth doing though. a cheap cop solution could help a lot of folks.

FWIW I'v been in Peters car and it's a monster at only 20psi...

Can't wait to get a ride at 30+ psi.

Coool! Can't wait to hear about the cheap man coil option. My CQ the "Rat Rod" is awaiting the turbo conversion on the cheap!

Peter, what'd you use to make that boost gauge pod? Looks like a cross between foam and a PVC pipe...but I like it and need to make something

pvc:parting lines sanded off, milled flat on the "bottom" and painted with undercoating paint. pretty easy diy but the milling machine really helps. a belt sander would be kinda okay but not nearly as good. i also tapped the "bottom" of the side walls for small screws to attach it to the column cover.

btw it actually looks better in person. the surface finish goes well with that of the surounding area (in person).

took the intake off to re-torque arp hardware and added 034 coils and mounting.....it is fun stuffing more and more crap into my engine bay along with ALL the stock stuff that is still in its original location. 8) ...some pics

How much would it cost me for you to make me one of those manifolds?

thanks. i have the manifold all nicely drawn up and instructions on how to, and in what order to weld the pieces to make it. i even have an extra top and bottom cut out around here somewhere. i was planning on selling the extra stuff off one of these days anyway. the .dxf file is on my old computer and i could email it to any fab shop or bring it to my guys around here. so, you can email me if that interest you. i am not really wanting to do supply the welding though. i could talk to some welders about doing it though. i will be removing my manifold for inspection this spring. i will add more pics and let everyone know how it is holding up.

IIRC the milling of my block was either $120 or $160 at an actual engine shop. i did the pistons at a friend's machine shop for free-ish or some lunches. i made the injector inserts at work and finished them at my buddies (dixon smith) shop. i also made my offset cam pulley key (to make up for the shorter block) at work, on the mill....i made two BTW. they look funny. i should take some pics. i also made some offset dowels for clocking the oil filter housing so that it would not interfere with my AC. i milled the AC bracket a bit also at work. the last thing i can think of is making that tension block for the t. belt at Dixon's place. that is pretty much it. all, just little things that are pretty fun to do. much of it was done to allow the AC. maybe i should have looked at the front of the AAN for a possible store bought solution for t. belt tensioning. WHEN WILL IT WARM UP?????

I should also throw a couple of pics in here one of these days of Dixon's latest project. he needs to have a sea-doo with twin 300hp merc. v6 engines and prop/jet drive. :o
