I finally found some time to clean up the pistons and install some new goetze rings. Pulled the car out and gave it a thorough wash, forgot that it's quite pretty.
I am going to put a complete low mile head on it from a parts mk3 I have, so I started pulling that engine as well.
My goal is to ...

So I really shouldn't get board and scan Craigslist for things I really don't need, but it happens too often...

Re: Kenny' s HX35/40 Budget build.
Sounds like a fun project. I built an urS4 with an Hx35/40 and it was super fun. It was a bit laggy, but when it lit, it pulled like a freight train. I would be concerned about stock rods with that turbo though. It is capable of way more than 340whp...

Re: 1.9 TDI into 90q: The wrong color smoke
Sorry to hear about the blue smoke issue Dana!
It will be interesting to see what you find. I'm thinking that you're on the right track thing that it's rings. Though in my own research I have found that the AHU pistons have a much shorter crown than other TDI engines and I could be possible that ...

Re: T44/URS Strut Mounts - Help Me Help You!
I am definitely interested in a set of these, now that I've got another urS! I just re-read the thread, but I couldn't find a figure on how much more travel they will allow. Has that been determined yet?

Re: Lets talk Rods
cool info on those rods, maybe I should have put a set in my car.
Right on about the TDIclub. I've posted some stuff on my car build, and literally nobody even looks or comments on it. Not to toot my own horn, but my car is pretty badass as far as 1.9 diesels go, but people asking which stage 1 ...

Re: Lets talk Rods
I have them in my built block, it's been confirmed by two well known tdi gurus that they are the same rods that ie, and rosten sell, just final machining is done in house....my machinist has been building race motors for 30+ years, he said the rods were fine. I made a point of having him check them ...

It has actually been confirmed, with ARP, that the Maxspeedingrods do come with genuine ARP 2000 bolts and that they source directly from ARP.

Re: Lets talk Rods
That is a great description of them, ha.
I understand what you are saying for sure, but if they are just as good as rods that cost twice as much, why spend more money? Some people say they actually come from the same factory as Rosten and IE rods and just have a different name.

I have been doing lots of research on building my ALH TDI and right now I am trying to decide on which connecting rods I am going to run. I have heard of many different people running "eBay" rods in big power Honda's, DSM's, VW's, etc. with no issues, but it seems like everyone on TDIClub is totally ...

Re: Jon's 1995 urS6 Avant
A hopped up TDI makes for a great daily power plant. For those of us who rack mega miles onto our old cars, it makes daily driving one of these things (dare I say) practical? Its just a car anyhow.
Honestly, you should be able to swap it back to a 5 banger anyhow. I don't think putting a TDI in ...

My rear konis were stoopid expensive, get the qa1 rears going down the road and do a write up so others can enjoy the more affordable route.
I love my horizontal bandsaw too
QA1 rears will happen once the Koni's are worn out. I will definitely do a write up on installing them ...
