AMD's 91 200q Project

Post by amd is the best »

Thank you guys. This was my first time doing this in depth of a detail. A coworker does professional detailing on the side so he came over with a ton of products and equipment, gave me a 30 min crash course on how it works and to town I went!

The 200's paint was REALLY in need of love and this made polishing take FOREVER.

Here were my steps for those interested:

1: Clean car
2: Clay bar
3: Tape molding/trim off
4: Polish with Meguiars 105 on Griot's random orbital with a orange pad. (4 passes on the hood and roof, 2 or three on side panels).
5: Polish with Meguiars 205 on Griot's RO with a orange pad (one pass on each panel). The two polishing steps took approx 13 hours almost nonstop!
6: Poorboys Black Hole glaze applied with RO on a gray pad. One pass and let cure for 30mins per panel.
7: Collinite 845 sealant/wax applied with RO on gray.
8: Poorboys trim cleaner/dressing
9: Cleaned the windows.

Then moved on to the interior.
10: wiped down the entire interior with Poorboys interior cleaner.
11: Vacuum
12: Windows

See you guys in Carlisle!

No excessive speeding. Probably like 72 in a 65 and 62 in a 55. It's very hilly terrain between Carlisle and Albany though. I'm sure it could get an easy 32+ on flat land and lean it out a bit more.

must be a more efficient turbo :P

I leaned out the cruising map before riding home and was getting much better mileage...didn't calculate it tho. AND my 044 decided to die as I was pulling INTO MY DRIVEWAY. sucks but sooo lucky it didn't happen earlier. all of a sudden it sounded like a chainsaw in my trunk and then the car died.

My 20vt got around 30mpg on the trip home by my best guess. Used much less gas than the trip to Carlisle. Of course, 7 mins from home my drivers front CV shaft came unbolted... AGAIN. Locked the center diff and drove to the nearest parking lot to fix it. I thought it wasn't torqued last time it happened but this time I decided it's because of the bad ball joint on that side. I went to torque the bolts to put the wheel back on and the whole stut and everything was going back and forth...

They do get noticeably louder when the tank is low, but the pump died. I have a half tank of gas, and as soon as I heard it I knew. VERY loud, in a bad way. Plus I have a fuel pressure gauge in my engine bay to confirm.
