I didn't realize it was that rare of a color... I may consider keeping it... not sure yet though.

Discount Tire WAS one of the I think two main US/CAN distributors. They don't carry them anymore.

Allrighty, i have a couple of new questions. I have been poking around here for awhile, and I have finally decided that I am going to go with a 4.2 liter, but I am not sure which would be better for what I am looking for. The ABZ or ABH? I am still pretty set on supercharging it with a vortech set up, of course with 034 engine managment backing it... With winter here, I haven't been able to do much with the car, because all I have is a carport. Although I did get some sweet gifts from the G/F for the Audi's interior, so as soon as I get the rest of those parts installed I will post up some pics.

oh yeah Also I am trying to find a good location to pick up the motor. I am a bit of a skeptic when it comes to ebay, and dropping that much cash on somthing like that. But if anyone has information where I could find a decent engine that would be great.... I won't be buying it tomarrrow, but within the next few months I will be.

As for progress towards my engine conversion, I don't have much to report. I have my battery relocation kit sitting in my house, along with a little suprise I want to share with you guys, as soon as I get it installed and fabbed. That will be a ways away due to the fact I am having trouble locating one piece of it, but rest assured I will find it, then I shall post pics ASAP! Anyways, I just wanted to post up somthing so that you don't think I flaked out on the project (because I haven't) It is just is really really slow going due to school/weather and budget, but with time it will be finished. haha.

OH YEAH... between you guys and the boss (GF) haha, I am going to be keeping it the oceanic blue. :-D

Sounds like quite an undertaking. Id love to drive a V8 4kq to see what its like compared to a MC'ed one.

Looking forward to seeing progress here. Lots of V8 heads on the board with valuable information too. The V8 swap looks pretty intensive and costs $$$$, but well worth it.

Keep us updated.

Yeah, I can see that it going to be some bucks. I will be happy if I get out of it at less then ten grand (paint included haha). But really, this is a dream of mine, and I am going to see it through. I will do my best to keep updated. I use the net at the school, because 30 bucks a month isn't worth it at home, when it can go towards parts for the 4kq. But yeah, any advice anyone can give me, I am all ears! :-D

I was in La Grande a few weeks ago, are you the owner of a gray 85+ 4kq? I saw it across the street from the Train tracks next to NAPA.

No, that is a friend of mine's though. It's only a 1.8liter 2wd. Pretty rough shape, also some days there is a 90q that is parked there that is pretty damn nice.

Ok, so I went out to the pick and pull last night and found these!

They were on a wrecked A6, but really not that bad of condition considering...

and this is a little bit of what I am thinking for the 4kq, inspired by Derric's Alpine project but with a little bit of a twist ...

Now all I have to do is wait for my ecodes to get here from europe. :D

I would be interested to see what you cook up with the A6 lamps. The 4000 might be a bit too old for the LED's to compliments the lighting. I don't want to be too discouraging as something cool may become of this. Good Luck!

Yeah, I have been really really wanting to work somthing up with them, but I wanted to see how it looked w/out the projectors first, then later on I might work somthing up... I also agree that it might be a bit old for the LEDs but I made it easy to reverse, so I don't know if i will keep them yet or not. In person I think it looks really sweet, and a few other people have liked them but they have a lot of ricer taste, and yes they look a bit rice.... for now I will leave it, but i may change it later on. Not sure yet though.

Yeah, I am going to stick with the factory color. I really don't know how rare the color is really, but I don't care, I really really like it. I am sure someone on the board could tell you. Maybe Derek?

and a couple more pics of it for good measure... :D

ok, so I think my car is going to head in a different direction than I had originally planned. I have been planning on making my 4kq a V8 swapped car, but after literally months of consideration I think I am going to join the 20vt crowd. I do have a plan on how to get this thing on the road.

First of all, I am going to stop worrying so much about the esthetics and shift towards the getting the engine phase of the project under way. Right now I am working at McD's while attending school, which won't change for 3 more years and I want to have the engine in my hands by this comming fall. Before school I worked for the rail road for about 3 years, so for this summer I already have lined up a job with a short line rail road doing maint. While doing that, I will keep the McD's job to make ends meet at home that way most, if not all of my earnings from the the rail road can go towards getting my engine, ecu, turbo etc... I would really like to see 400hp to the ground with this set up. (Please don't laugh haha :bashtard: ), and I was hoping that you guys could point me in the right direction, and maybe answer some of my questions...

First I was wanting to find out what the difference between a B3 and an AAN motor is.

Second, I want to hear what you guys thought the best turbo would be to reach my goal is?

and lastlly would be be out of the question to find a 20v N/A and convert to turbo? Also, I do realize I will need to strengthen the bottom end to make it dependable, but what parts to you guys recommend for accomplishing that?
