Dan.... does this classify as some kind of sick subliminal slam? :P

Again congrats Red on getting it running!!!!

And psh, 20vt swap is easy :P Very minimal wiring to do :D

Looking forward to seeing more updates and driving impressions!

The wiring wasnt much, Ill admit. The gremlins pissed me off however. I guess this would be a very simple and fast swap if I were to do it again and not everything else I did. No rear sway bar, no 5-lug conversion, no transmission work, etc

Once everthing is sorted out, Ill draw up some diagrams on how everything went together. Now just gotta get the suspension and brakes done. The interior can finally start going back together. Thatll be fun....ugh. The engine compartment needs massive cleaning up and still not 100% sure what to do with the giant clusterf$&@ of wires under the dash

What all did you take apart, wiring wise underneath? I took the dash out of mine but didnt have to. I just ran I think 3-4 wires up to the fusebox and that was it. I also wired in the fault code stuff so I could check it with a spare defrost switch from the drivers seat :)

Got the springs on the other 2 struts. Gonna install the front drivers tomorrow night and possibly the rear passenger. Still gotta re-drill one more rear rotor to 5x112 before getting the brakes on. Progress :)

You live in Idaho, you dont need AC! LOL. It just saps power and adds weight anyway.

Ben, LOL, no slam. Just sayin if you have a car that runs it will make you want to finish all the other stuff faster instead of having most of the other stuff done and then trying to do the engine. You'll be like " it aint runnin, so whats the hurry? i'll just do this and that and that other thing first, then get it runnin."

Figuring Ill do the front driver strut and wire up the WUR and CSV today. Car runs pretty rough without it. It takes a little to start it and idles fine, but a little rough. Could also be due to a vacuum leak too. Who knows

Finished rear suspension last night. Also, when screwing some of the lug-bolts into the hubs, they would start to cross-thread about half way in. Weird I know. The only hub that didnt have this problem was the rear driver's. Took a nice tap to each hub and now they all have new fresh, sharp threads :)

Looking like I should have the driver suspension/axle done tonight. Ordering the tires tomorrow, so should be driving by next weekend. The engine bay is going to get cleaned up over the weekend; gotta switch #3 and #4 injectors as the hardlines are reversed. Interior is just about ready to go back together. I cleaned off all the nasty 26 year old grease in the seat rails too. What kind of grease should I use for the seats??

I think eventually, I'm going to just get custom lines made for the oil cooler, as I had how it's all crammed up where the horns used to be.

Still not sure what I'm gonna do with the A/C. Haven't decided to rip everything out or leave it. It would be nice to have if I take it on road-trips into the desert.

I figure over the weekend and Monday, I'll get most of the interior back together, clean up the engine compartment, get the JT alternator mounted while I wait for my 110amp to arrive on a stock order (I have the bracket off a 200 20v), route most of the vacuum lines, and overall just clean up.

It will be a huge relief when it's done. I can finally park my "toy" and drive this. Im not really sure what else I could do to the car after all Ive done, besides going radical and doing a 20vt swap or a V8 lol. I think the suspension is as built as it can be besides going to coil overs, but I dont want to lower the car. Only thing I can think of doing with the brake setup is an adjustable prop valve. Anyone here know how I can do this?

Well, what I did for the adjustable prop valve was mount one where the cruise control deallybob used to be. Here is a pic of mine with the 200 20vt MC. Its fairly straight forward one you have the stock prop vavle remove along with all the lines for it that you dont need anymore. I reused the fitting that allows both front hard lines to be fed by the same port and the rear line just has the adjustable vavle in line now.

Interesting. I really like that setup. Only thing I would have to do differently is where I mount the prop valve since Im keeping the cc. Why did you use the MC off of a 20vt 200?

I just used white lithium grease on the seat rails. Make sure you grease the slider at the front/center of the seat as thats where it really matters.

:stupid: Or if you can find it...at toyota we have what is called "body grease". Its factory toyota grease that is a yellowish white color and is quite a bit thicker than white lithium grease, but it is expensive for a little jar of it. Its what we use to lube seat sliders, sun roofs, and the sliding side doors.

About the MC. Its what was recommended for the brake setup that I initally had(A4 front brakes). It has a larger diameter than the original MC so it moves a larger volume of fluid. You probably dont need one for your setup. Post a picture of your MC. I'm intersted to see which one you have since I've seen 2 styles of MC's on 4kq's. Earlier ones seem have the mc that mine had originally with the fluid ports on both sides and i've seen a couple later 4kq's that have a different style with the fluid ports only on the left side like the 200 2vt mc but closely resemble the mc from a b3 80 or 90.

LOL nevermind, you can see your mc in your sig pic. You have the style that my car came with. Maybe only 1987 models came with the b3 style mc.

Yeah white lithium is what I was thinking. Ill check into that toyota body grease too. Hopefully its not retarded expensive.

As far as the MC goes, Im going to see how the stock one feels with the bigger brakes in the front. When doing the rear passenger brake yesterday, the pad I pulled out had only like 10% wear. Turns out one of the sliders had seized! No wonder my braking wasnt always up to par. Managed to pull it out, clean it with the bench wheel, and put fresh grease on it. Works like a charm now.

Im honestly more excited about the brake setup then the engine swap to be honest. When I finish my engineering degrees, I think I really want to work on brake systems and suspension. But my real interest lies in electromagnetism. Imagine using solenoids to work the valves. No more cam, lifters and power loss due to the valvetrain.

Update! Only worked on the car on Friday night. Got the CSV and WUR all wired up. Got the fuel lines cleaned up nice, and the wiring harness tucked away neatly. The engine now runs absolutely FLAWLESSLY. Revs up quick, and pressurizes quickly. Damn I cant wait to drive it. Should be this weekend or early next week
