If its steel you really need to weld in a patch, if its fiberglass you need to glass in a patch. Bondo should only be layed very thin, anything excessive and it will probably swell. We see it all the time when cars come in that had work done at shoddy shops.

That's funny, I use dum dum (butyl rubber tape) on my BMW where it has rusted through the trunk gutters. Works really well!

really? crap. well, this is for temporary even so. Ill have to take care of it then.

The bondo fills the hole but there is a piece of Duct Foil tape. i can take off the tape sop that it has room to expand. i dont think its fully filled up. i think its just a ball of paper underneath the bondo thats on top.

ill have to ask my buddy what he did. i wasnt watching.

With your wandering idle... clean your ISV really well with WD40 or brake cleaner (ensure what you use is non-silicone).

Or adjust your throttle limit switch... locate your TB, and manually open/close the throttle butterfly valve. You should hear a click when it hits the end of it's sweep. If not, you need to readjust the switch. FYI it doesn't need to be removed completely, just the two screws loosened and tightened again when the switch is repositioned. Worked well for me!

Body filler is not meant to be used to fill holes. It has different expansion rates than the material it is applied on, and I can guarantee that you will be able to see that hole shortly after it is painted. I would recommend that you chip that filler out and use a two part epoxy resin to fill the hole, then finish with a glaze of filler. Also, I wouldn't suggest using spray can primer if you ever plan on having a quality urethane paint applied over it, as the products are not compatible.

But the car looks good, and I'm excited to see the finished product!

Spray cans are for Lawn Furniture. Not for cars.
If you are going to sand and spray a car, Go to a proper auto body store and spend the $$ and get the gear you need.
Good body work is expensive. Most of that is the time it takes, but its also materials. Good paint, good primer, costs money. And its well worth it.

Do you have an aircompressor? IF so, get an air dryer for it and get some real primer. Even a $50 gun can shoot primer well and frankly, if you are careful, you can even shoot paint with a cheap gun but you are more likely to get runs. You are putting some good effort into this, I'd hate to see it go to waste due to use of shoddy materials.

I don't believe so. I have a couple extra so don't fret just yet. As long as its the hitatchi components that is. I may need to start charging you for all my spare parts though. I even have that spare intake boot I repaired if you need it.

Indeed. Not swapable. Totally different setup although the resistance measurements are similar. I looked at putting a 3b Intake on my 7A. I figured it would work based on the measurements I took, but the 3b sensor wont bolt up to the 7a intake.

Are you sure thats the subframe thats cracked? If I'm looking at the photo right, thats directly above the downpipe just before the Cat. There is a heat shield there that protects the passenger side tranny mount. To me that crack looks like its the heat shield and not the actual subframe. Could just be the angle of the photo though.

its getting REAL primer the spray was just to cover up the bare metal. My buddy is going to be painting the car with a compessor and a gun. im paying out for some good stuff. I think,lol. i still have to go and pick up the paints and base coat and clear.

in a year or so, im going to have all the windows taken out and the rust repaired around the windshield.





i am picking up matte clear though. I am really hoping this turns out well.

after the amount of sanding i did last night just on the mirrors, i believe a chemical strip is in order for the amount of pitting there is in this paint. Then a nice respray next year.

80 on the rusty spots then 180 on top

you can't use adapters from 4-5 lugs unfortunately. 1 of the bolts will interfere with the other unfortunately

But can you run 5 x 4.5" Bolt pattern? That's slightly larger than 5x112. I think I hears someone talk about using Wobble bolts, but even then, I thought you said you were staying 4-bolt. There is no ways those will fit with a 25mm adapter.
