hahahaha..... first up? cutting tunnel out to fit the shifter stuff.... remove cracked to hell windshield..... and do some welding.... cutting.... goin on a diet we are. gotta figure out how to remove rear glass without breaking it. i hear it could be kinda rare, and i like spare stuff.
also, just waiting for my latest parts acquisitions to arrive. dropped suspension for the Lago, and G60 brakes with new calipers and slotted/drilled rotors. it was cheap enough and i have since foregone the idea of the 13's, so what the hell. once the new Lago parts arrive, i box up the whole setup, hubs, spindles, axles, trans/diff flanges front and rear and send off to my friends @ A1CVTech for something wild and custom in the axle department. if i break what they and i have talked about, something is really wrong. we'll see whats up when that gets done
oh yeah, the 10pt roll cage and misc extra bars gets here tuesday.... man i like building stuff....

I watched some guys successfully remove a windshield from the car I'm parting today using very fine stainless steel wire... they pulled the wire slowly and carefully around with both ends tied to old seat belts... took about 2 hours to cut through the adhesive... in mid 20's windy condition
Audi 100 has metal trim on the edge of glass that kept snagging and breaking the wire.

had a windshield found, second one that got broken when the PO's tried to remove it. this kid only wanted 40 bucks for it, too. i was gonna get it as a spare part
so lexan it is. i am thinking to go lexan on the sunroof panel as well. tinted of course. or maybe painted it would look good as well. the rear hatch wil get lexan. but the sides will stay glass for now, its just easier.
the cage arrived at the house today, and i should be out of Idaho mid second week of FEB. and to think i was only coming out here for 3 months in late june :bashtard:
i guess 3 months is first, one in the middle, and last
but i also have many weeks of unused vacation time that i have to use or lose. looks like i get some quality time with the family and some with the car, too.
thats all, just a friendly update.
oh yeah, friend of mine offered up his shop (heated, built in compressor air, etc) for painting the chassis. so i gotta get whatever it is i am going to weld done and welded so i can get it over there for paint.
and then it will be looking real snazzy. i have decided on Convo-Pro rims, too.

and sorry, i did not answer this. saw it going thru the past

compressor side is 66mm x 92.8mm and exhaust is 83mm. i believe it was purpose built for the old PowerStreet class. at the time it was THE largest you could run in that class.

got more goodies... i love goodies
Derek pointed me to another coupe partout. so i got some parts. and now i finally have the whole suspension back to Coupe Quattro spec
i got G60 front brake setup. new pads and slotted/drilled rotors ~1500 miles only. $100
all four corner strut housings with H&R cup kit and Bilstein Sport HD struts. $125
all four corner spindles and hubs. $50
all 4 axles and ball joints. $100
front cast control arms and a very recently new brake MC with prop valve. $50
he tried to pull the windshield but it broke. it was $40 bucks.... :bashtard:
and the roll cage kit is here, and i think its gonna work out just fine.

i am going to put the cast arms on the rear, and center the wheel in the well better. plus the strength of the cast arms....
and anyone like this look for the wheel? i have a poll post, but i put it here because its a part of this project.

this coming week i am sending a complete set of 4 spindles/hubs, axles, trans/diff flanges for Marco and Nick to make me some axles from. there is fitment issue with the u-joint idea maybe, thus why i have to send them everything. but its ok, i got a whole set extra of everything to do this.
well thats it. spent the day putting a new computer together for the lil woman, and installing the rear cup kit struts on the Lago..... will finish that next week.
and the cage starts real soon.

The new turbo looks sweet. It really makes the 35r look like a k04.
Looks good Aaron!
thanks for the props

there is a slight problem with the 35r.... its attached to the other drag car i have, my rabbit
yes, i do have two completely separate (almost) big turbo drag cars. the ONLY thing they share is the ECU.... they are complete unto themselves otherwise. they both are 20v 1.8T based motors. i can only drive and tow one car at a time, so this is perfect. it was one of the selling points on a second chassis to the wife: :just think of all the money i WONT have to spend because i already have the SEM ($2500) and spare motors (stock)".... of course the harness costs, and the motor build is more severe than the rabbits. the rabbit is >550 WHP.... thats the medium build car. this one is the balls out jaw dropping build

man.... i have not been home for 4 hours yet. and already, i have found a new level of commitment to this project. what have i done??? :?

but i have already ordered the tubing to make up for this slight "mishap". and this is not part of the diet, rather the making way for exhaust header, an overly largish turbo, and fuel cell among other things. plus, i have always wanted to tube something like this, even though its only 1/4 chassis or less. and the rear is getting similar, too.
the plan for the tube work involves front of the strut towers down to the frame horn loop. a removable upper core support. and then triangulate the strut towers to the dash bar. and of course since the strut towers are integral with the firewall on their back sides, tubed to the A-pillar bars as well.
still gotta plan whether i want to "Dzus" the front bumper or leave it as is.... either way it wont be that hard to pull off. going to set the hood on the hinges, and align the sheetmetal up front, then start to building.... man i love being creative....
