Ben's URS6 - lots of new pics and fuel pump questions
Re: Turbo Setup for my URS6
Let us know on the turbo. We are close to having all backorders ready to fill at this point, and should have some on the shelf very soon.
Re: Turbo Setup for my URS6
Is the package of turbo, injectors and chip ready for sale?

about 2 weeks out. Waiting on just the turbos to complete the package
Re: Turbo Setup for my URS6
Oleg was reluctant because then someone will say I dynoed at xxx and you said it'll hold xxx and it failed so you have to replace. Or at least that's what I figured. From what I can tell they rate their product quite conservatively.

Re: Turbo Setup for my URS6
Better than spec that does the opposite.
Re: Turbo Setup for my URS6
Hank is a K26 needed on this for exchange, like the RS2 billet?
Also this will be a chip tune package for urS cars, as opposed to a VEMS tune, right?

Re: Turbo Setup for my URS6
I have enough k26s in stock that I can do without a core charge. If you have one, I usually discount 50-75$ depending on the shape.
Yes, this is motronics chip tuning. Very good option.

Re: Turbo Setup for my URS6
True that... I can personally vouch for my stock clutch holding all the H1C had in it at 24 psi except when doing numerous repeated pulls with hard shifts (like when Nick and I were racing at Carlisle). It also held 25 on my HX52. Not sure how much power that was, but it was certainly not a small amount. They hate launches and hard shifts, so watch out for that. Otherwise they are pretty good. I ran mine for around two years making somewhere between 300-350 wheel (estimated) and I'd do pulls with it every single day.

My brand new sachs 200 clutch is slipping already.

That is good to know about the holsets.
It will be interesting how the clutch reacts with the torque onset of the k26

Re: Turbo Setup for my URS6
Well - I went and done it.
I ordered the K26 Billet from Hank - I'll order the injectors and chip once it's available
I also decided on a clutch - I went with a Southbend stage 3 daily. In the end, I want to drop the tranny once and once only. These have a known track record and I won't have to swap it out if (and when) I decide to upgrade beyond the K26.
I feel like I should move this thread to Projects now that I am going from talking about stuff to actually doing it. How do I make that happen?

Good for you

Find an exhaust manifold yet?

Yeah. I went on the cheap for the EM we'll see how it works. I'm going to upgrade bit by bit as I go.

Worth a shot, good luck.
Post some dyno graphs when you get there.

Re: Ben's URS6 - Upgrade now in progress....
I got hanks turbo in the mail the other day and have had the SB clutch for a while. Now that the cabriolet is up and running well (clutch MC shit the bed the other day) I decided to jump in to the clutch replacement with the turbo/EM upgrade to follow.
Once I got the downpipe off for the trans drop, I decided to just do I all at once.
So, I have a couple questions for all you wider folks...
Here's the clutch and PP I pulled off my car. Theyre original and have 141k miles on them...

Definitely some uneven wear. More toward the center
So first of all, should I resurface the PP or just rough up and even out as much as possible
Then, I got the turbo, EM nd all out of my engine bay...

Here are the turbos side by side for comparison....

Firstly, ill need to tap this in to the new turbo for my N75 right?

Anyone know the tap and drill bit ill need?
Also, the hot side seems to be oriented differently how do I address this?
Thanks!

Re: Ben's URS6 - Upgrade time!
Should just be 1/4 NPT (Pipe Thread). That turbo looks tasty btw
. As for the turbo orientation, you just need to clock that sucker. Depending on which way you need the drain flange facing, just loosen the 6 bolts on hotside, or cold side (depending on what you need) and rotate it until it's where you want.

Re: Ben's URS6 - Upgrade time!
We ought to start tapping these for people, as most of them are going on urS or 200s with the n75 there. The oem thread on the k24 is a 10x1mm thread I believe, but it wouldn't be hard to tap it for 1/8NPT with everything available from home depot. Thanks for hte feedback on that, we will ship everything else out with it tapped.
As for the orientation, we ship most of the turbos loose so it is easy for the customer to adjust the clocking. Make sure they are all tight once you get the final orientation correct.
Hank

Re: Ben's URS6 - Upgrade time!
Lots of progress since my last post.
Clutch job complete and the transmission is back on. Had a heck of a time with the job. The linkage held me up getting the trans out (I didn't know about the torque selector rod or that it was attached differently than the shift rod which just falls off when you remove the bolt. I ended up having to putt the center console and pull the linkage up into the car to unhook it.
The transmission didnt want to go back on once I had everything back together. Finally got that back together.
I sent the ECU to Marc to do the soldering for me - I have screwed up enough seat heater switches and outside temperature displays with my poor soldering skills, I don't want to take the chance on the ECU. The chips were already socketed from when 034 put in the stage 1 chip for the PO so that part was done.
The Exhaust Manifold is installed and I got the exhaust back on. New waste gate spring installed.
Put the green giants in today and the existing clips don't fit, there's no groove for the clips to sit in:

Is there another clip to make these hold or should I just run with these the way they are?
All that remains is the turbo install and reinstall of the ECU!
Can't hardly wait!

The ECU has shipped so ill hopefully get it Saturday!
So, with the new turbo, I have read a little about priming it with oil, what's the proper procedure for the inaugural startup?

Just squirt some oil down in the oil feed, and let it rip.
