i specifically asked about that and was told it's perfectly fine to do, and that they do it all the time. so i'm goin' with that 8)

Cool. I will probably follow that lead for my next Wiring harness. Looks sweet Derek!

wow, the intake manifold on this 40v is a piece of art almost. it's four pieces of casting, and two flaps inside for the variable runner length. the flap for the top rpm range was frozen in place, and that's why i pulled the whole thing apart. my A6 at home has the same thing, so now that i know how to do it, i'll probably fix it as well pretty soon.

keep in mind all the casting is magnesium 8)

some kinda corrosion or build up that was binding the shaft

so i got a little creative with the sand paper wrapped around a bic pen and cleaned it out

it's all still apart at the moment, but after it goes through a parts cleaner to get rid of all the oily residue, it'll go back together all purdy :D

i also got a P/S pump bolted in place. seems the 20v 80/90 P/S pumps fit right in place and bolt up. i'm using an oil reservoir from a 90. lines aren't completed yet. the alternator might look different.... and that's because it is. i got the engine without an alt. and don't really want to spend a few hundred bucks on an expensive audi unit that sits in the wrong place for my purposes, so i got a nice, fairly compact Denso unit off a chrysler V6 out at the wrecking yard(well it's one of those mitsu v6's).... hard to beat for $15 :P

Is the pulley bigger on the PS pump than what was originally fitted? If so you'll over-spin the pump.

ummm, i don't think so according to my years of tinkering with bicycles :) ... smaller will overspin, bigger will underspin, which i don't mind firmer steering feel.

Yeah, I was only half thinking about it and looked at it backwards. v-naught = omega * radius, where v-naught is tangential velocity (in belt drive, this is constant), omega is the rotational speed and we all know what a radius is. So, leave v-naught alone and change the radius, you change omega. Simple illustration is 5m/s = omega * 0.06m. Omega = 83.3 radians/second. Change R to 0.08m, you get 62.5 radians/second.

Why I am even bothering to watch the debate I don't know. It's making feel dumber for watching it and look dumber on here!

whatever that crap is was trumped by my 10speed knowledge :D

No, we keep going out of town or work on house stuff on the weekends..... I've put a deadline up for the V8 trans swap so I can stop driving the Astro along with getting my garage done so I can move the Coupe to the house. So look for some V8 stuff hopefully in the next month, then garage stuff, then Coupe stuff. That 034 Stage IC has been sitting waaaay to long.

I was just giving numbers to back up your response

Well, it's not a conjunction; it's an auxiliary verb. But we get your meaning.

It's been 2 years...any chance of an update on here? You have more cool projects sitting around *comatose* than I have projects! :jealous:

Its best if the car cover is left on. Trust me, you don't want to see it now. I literally CUT pieces off this car for mine. Its not pretty and you might actually cry if you saw it now. Nothing like it used to be. I just like to remember it for all the good times me and Derek had ripping around in it. RIP Alpine Weiss.
