No I understsand. I get it because I have thought of doing the same thing in the rear for my cars. I didnt mean to come off snotty or anything. Forums are good for questions like that..
The transmission mounts are permanent. He wanted it that way to sneak exhaust over the mount instead of under it. He did that in the rear just to gain enough room to do dual 2.5s over the rear axle I am pretty sure.
Like you said, 3" is tough to get over the rear axle. I think he invested 2 hours in mount fab up to save himself 4 hours of brain bashing in the future. Looks like a good investment!!

Ha that's just the thing who cares what it looks like under the car if its only for that, functionality though, yes. No hank, wasn't callin you out just making a Public Address haha. Oh, didn't realize the tranny ones are permanent. I hope theres more getting added to it!
Good work as usual though Derek!

a few more things done... rear brakes are on and plumbed. I ended up having to buy some premade lines and bend them for what i needed.

front brakes... the adapters aren't right for the 6piston calipers, so back on with the A4 brakes and i'll have to wait a little longer for the brackets to get sorted...
I did manage to also get the fuel pump relay working properly by tapping one of the trigger wires for the #1. coil to let the stock 4kq fuel pump relay know when the car is being fired, and in case of an accident, when the engine has stopped running, so that it stops pumping fuel
. no need to use a GPO for the FPR, so me happy
back on the ground...

tight much ?

i need to get some delrin control arm bushings for the cast arms, and then align it. then finish the new exhaust... then finish the new dash cluster. and put the new interior in...

So you just split a lead off of the trigger? Interesting 8)

Nice work Derek.
Re: e-brake cable...I was able to strecth them on on my COupe, but they were tight. When I went to adjust them in the tunnel the rod snapped and that was it...I never bothered with it again. But, the solution will be to find cables from a trailing caliper car, B4 90?
I also only have flex line on the rear, it worked fine.

p.s. It was mentioned many times that A/S4Q rear hubs add 8mm to the offset. Sorry you missed that.

got a chance to work on the exhaust yesterday and today. fabbed up the new downpipe, got the mid section of the exhuast pretty much figured. the transitions from dual 2.5" to single 3" on each ends are left and i didn't have enough mental capacity this evening to overcome those.
i kept the the original downpipe from the turbo to the flex section, then rebuilt from there down. the new pipe now routes above the pass. axle, there is a heat shield that will fit in between with some light modification. the WB 02 has been moved from under the car, to the hump above the CV, which will make replacement easier in the future. the junctions between the SS and alu. are V-band. I lucked out and got seperate V-band assemblies that will match up. to finish it up it just needs to be wrapped again.

mounting brace

tip, welding SS nuts to a tube, then trying to thread in the bolts will result in galled threads, which sucks. so i ended up having to weld the brace in place.

midsection... wow, it's light! i tried to lay it out with easy cuts and simple lines, but a couple things are going to be a bit difficult to figure out.

it's hard to see, but the lowest section of the tubing is now no lower than the bellypan of the car. later on i plan to make full underbody paneling to quell air and road noises.

that's it for now. i had worked a bit on the dash cluster, but this opportunity to strike on the exhaust and i jumped on it since the weather is nice and i had the weekend to myself.

...Uhhhhh...

I would think that you will need a flex line in between the caliper and the strut housing? Without it, your steel line could fail, due to movement of the caliper back and forth under normal braking. It seems like a such a small amount of movement, but breakage of the steel line does happen in similar setups on VW's. On the bug, the disc kits include a short 10mm section of flex line. I can probably find a part number if you want.

D if you need, i should have a hand full of those short braided lines.... took them off a VW or an ABS cant remember. saved em cuz i thought they were "neat" LOL

Re: Derracudas zermatt 20vt 4kq project*vids*
i thought about the flex of the line, and it's pretty long, maybe 8" or so. right now i'll leave it since i have a ton of other things to tend to, but i'll consider it in the future and also keep an eye on things. thanks for pointing it out though!

wahoo! slowly but surely!

the midsection is almost completed. a couple more seams to weld and the up-pipe, then finish off the tail section and mounting contraption(it's so light i'm contemplating only a mount at the rear end), and it's done! 8)

the exhaust is *almost* finished. i need to finalize the rear mount, wrap the header, and decide if i'm going to paint the exhaust black or not... i don't want it to oxidize and look nasty, but i do like the alu. color on the exhaust
a couple clearance indentations for the center carrier

rear Y coming together.. man, that's a pain in the neck getting everything lined up properly for the exhaust tip

tail section

head wrap! i have to say, so far, this is the nicest header wrap i've ever touched. it's like Carbon Fiber.

the rear exhaust flanges have the tube protruding a little bit through them, and i used some high temp silicone and let it dry so that when it's bolted together, it will have it's own "gasket". though, i'm sorta thinking about later on redoing these flanges with some of those nice Pegasus "wiggins" copies.

same thing on the back of the turbo. my DP flange is beveled and now seals nicely against the silicone. i guess we'll see how long it holds up. so far, it looks like it's doing the job nicely on Aarons turbo header.
