Well dang this is my 8000th post, damn
Ok well seems like a good time for an update
Ryan @ Higbee Fab. and myself finally got some time to get some more intake manifold work done. Since the last update ryan has finish welded the velocity stacks to the plenum plate above and below. We were initially going to just weld the back side of the velocity stacks, but as he has a mill, he welded the inner plenum side of the plate/stacks as well. Once that was all done, he had it pressed to dead flat and then we went and machined it flat and clean for the inside of the plenum. There are a few small pits but they will be filled and cleaned when we get back into it for plenum and TB feed welding.
We are using full hemispheres to enclose the plenum ends rather than rounded end caps, the ports on the VR are pretty close to each other. Soo close that if you look at the last update’s pics you can see the velocity stacks come about 1mm from interfering with each other. I wanted the #1 and #6 cylinders to have air equal to that of the other cylinders, so the larger hemispheres give the end cylinders the same volume to draw from as the others. Ryan milled the plenum plate nice and round in prep for hemisphere welding.
I got the head and IM lower back and its now in the car and has the endcaps and plenum clamped on, so we can continue work in the engine bay while knowing exactly what area is taken up by the IM.
the plenum has been cut and prepped for welding, fitment is almost perfect, we wont be welding it until it is perfect. endcaps are almost done as well, but we will be fitting the TB to plenum feed before anything above the plenum base is welded
On to the pics!!
