Nice. Should be a hoot when you get to drive it. Dont forget to get the first drive on video.

Thanks for the kind words guys!

To do list:
-turbo bracing
-exhaust (get piping, hangers, and figure it out)
-headlight wiring
-take proper reving video.
-figure out why the engine cuts fuel when MAF line is plugged into ECU (034 1b)
-some misc. stuff

I hope to make it to Quattro De Mayo in Georgia in the beginning of May...

and then Southern Worthersee in mid May...

Here is a very poor quality video Tim! I'll get a good GoPro quality one up over Spring Break. Hopefully a little drive too!

Late and over-due update lacking in photos. I got the tune issue worked out with the help of audifreakjim and some others. Thanks guys!

Over spring break I got to feel this thing boost!!!!! :woowoo: :woowoo:

Front support brace with hood latch. I used the strut tower brace from my UrS4

Oil was leaking out of the oil line for the turbo. I realized I never had a gasket in there...so I made one. NO more leaky!

Check it!

To do:
-turbo support bracing
-get exhaust made
-learn how to tune and not blow up my engine

SICK! It sounds loud...just right. BTW, i'm completely jealous of any 4kq with quattro script interior. I like my leather, but seats that have "quattro" all over them are just plain awesome. Oh, and Ben is a jerk for scoring a set of quattro script seats at a wrecker. LOL

A lot of progress has been made in the past two weeks. I'm out of college for the Summer and back home. Here are some photos of the turbo bracing. I used 1/2" 304 stainless steel and the rest was sourced from my pile of misc. brackets and metal around the shop. Making the bracing took longer than expected.

After the turbo bracing was finished, I moved on to the headlights/blinkers wiring. I hated this part.

Got it all the headlights wired up, blinkers work, mounted the grille, misc. wiring for gauges, and it is almost done.

Is your 16vt 4k done yet?

Fuel is pissing out it's line. Time to fix it.

My rear main seal is leaking (which I replaced during rebuild) and spark has disappeared. I think I have too much crank case pressure and it is pushing out thru my rear main seal. I don't know why the main seal would just start leaking (a lot of oil) suddenly.

Re: Nick's AAN into 4000Q thread. Question about spark

Post by Rallyfreak202 »

I need some input guys. I am not getting any spark. I took a video of me taking the wire from the coil and putting it next to ground. There should be more frequent spark correct?

Also, does it matter if I use a multi window distributor or a single window? I am using single window right now but did have a multi window one installed.

I am unaware of if you are using your distributor to trigger the 1B ECU for ignition or if you are using the stock ECU to control your ignition, but either way, you will want the multi-window (4 in your case) to trigger the 1B ECU.

The 1 window distributor is used for sequential phasing of the stock flywheel sensor (when used with the stock ECU) or used as a cam synch for distributorless aftermarket ECUs.

I am puzzled guys. It will not start, ONLY sputter a little bit. The sputtering is just a thud notably heard from the open down pipe.

I am getting weak spark and I don't think it is sparking as often as it should....about 1-1.5 spark a second(battery is charged). Is that too little? It is also a yellow/orange spark.

I am using 034 1B controller and have my ground trigger wire going to the - side and my 12v wire going to the positive side of the coil. Those are the ONLY wires on the coil.

ANY advice is gladly accepted.

Resumed working on the 4000!I need to get this thing running before I go back to school.

Still have weak spark off the coil. I have 12v while cranking to the positive side. The negative side of the coil is the ground trigger from the 1B controller. The coil is good, tested it on my GTi.

Just asked The Architect what he thinks. We'll see.
