Sure, a stock N/A motor is cheap, but then you need to pay for custom manifolds, downpipe, oil pan, engine mounts, plumbing, etc...and figure out all the accessories and lines, and ECU.

No doubt my "next" motor will be a turbo 07k, so I'm with you, but don't underestimate the effort/cost it takes to pull that off.

Yeah, the 07k brings some additional costs. I'd say that the manifolds, downpipe, and most of the plumbing are pretty constant when you start going >RS2ish levels.

That's sort of my thinking.. with what I have into just my Turbo, Manifold, Wastegate, Downpipe and Stromung, I could have a fire breathing 07k with pistons... Even if it's in a MK5 Jetta/Golf (for now)

Had dirty fingers and was alone in the shop last week when I measured so I couldn't take a pic...

I guess you could just slide them all the way "up" so that there is slightly less to juggle or find a friend lol

Still have to finagle the centering of the aftermarket rods either way... I rather adjust from below than decompress and recompress rings...

Notice how the aftermarket rods do not center themselves on the wrist pins like the OE rods do...

Interesting... my SCAT rods are at wide as the gap, almost no gap. I had no issues with centering. What kind of rods you using?

You gonna pop some kind of pickup on there? Curious to see how that works out. Looks good!

Here is a picture of scats in aftermarket pistons (JEs in this case). Aftermarkets float as well. It is the job of the thrust surface on the crank to keep the rod aligned.

Funny, didn't even notice that in the pic. That looks a little different than the material I've used (not worse/better...just different). I've used pickups in jeep fuel cells and they all are usually more of a nylon mesh. Now we just need to get you some e85 to go with that pump :D

How is the bottom end coming along?

So what is the general consensus when it comes to both motor and tranny mounts without going solid mount? This might be the last couple bits I'll scoop up before I go full force ahead... Any Stern's type rebuild-able mounts with lifetime warranty or home brew options that will yield better than stock longevity?

PS. I have had 034 Density stuff in the past,...

Engine is looking great, been silently following along!

For mounts, I dunno about trans mounts but Energy Suspension fox body mustang transmission mounts are strong as crap, don't disintigrate even when they melt, and are $35 a piece. Just elongate the holes like a MM or two and they fit perfect. They've been proven on Jim's car and Dana's old 20vt 90 among others

Thanks!!!!

So let me clarify,.. Use E.S. fox body tranny mounts as Motor Mounts for our application? Any P/N and/or pics of how they look in our application?
