Yes I was. I never had a knock problem even with the increased boost. I routinely checked the spark plugs for signs of knock and never had issues.

I was thinking the same thing. I never had knock issues with my chipped 4ktq either except once...right after I chipped it the CEL would pop on and timing would be pulled, and rightfully so. After a new sensor there were no more fault codes.
Id think it would be really tough to do that to a motor unless everything is working as it should (ie setting up the fault codes and actually checking them). Crazy, but its only money, right?
I wasnt having detonation issues. No pinging or knocking and the cel wasnt throwing codes. This was just a case of me not paying attention to the boost gauge when the creep happened. Turns out the boost issue of the collasping hose was saving me from this lol
The car was blowing blue for a while so I was going to have to tear the engine down anyways and re-ring at the minimum. Since Im done putting money into this motor anyways, it basically turned into a fuckit moment.

I am teh confused. I thought thats what fuel cut out was for? When my wg diaphram split I overboosted and quickly learned what and why the fuel cut out was there.
I apologize for my ignorance. Just trying to understand!

yeah yeah lol. What I should have said is detonation wasnt present till the end. Even my car buddies never heard any issues. I have had det issues in the past and those I were able to catch and correct. Melting pistons was a little different lol. Since I didnt care about it anymore, I didnt care to check the plugs. The plan was to rebuild anyways with a different motor so meh.

I have a Natrix chip. Fuel cut is disabled which means unlimted BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOST (and melted pistons)

Really? Wow! Thats pretty dangerous.
I need to find a money tree
Safety is kind of boring with a 20v.

Maybe, but a 20vt swap is the easiest dang thing to keep running, IMHO. I dont know many people that have the cash or enjoy engine pulls/rebuilds on a regular basis

I enjoy my 'stock' 20v 240whp daily…. :knocks on the biggest fucking tree around:

I just had a talk with him about this very idea. My goal is to show up drink beer and race cars... not fiddle dink with a kraut wagon the whole time.

I would love a 20v car. Until I can afford it I live vicariously through some people here. Lots of great knowledge around here.
So I figure I will give a list on what I plan to do to this car over the rest of the summer and into the winter.
1: Start tearing the body apart in prep for body work and paint 2: Tear down the engine bay, shave it, sand, prime, and prep for paint 3: Buy new engine, sell off the internals, and start building 4: Possibility of a cage 5: Redo all the stereo equipment and eliminate the 2 channel sub amp 6: Do the rear 3.89 conversion and coil overs 7: Do coil overs on the front of the car; take the t44 bilsteins out of the front and move them to the v8q (as the front shocks are going out)
