Your history of cars
Your history of cars
I think it's always fun to see how people have progressed through cars so I figured I'd start a thread on it. Feel free to list as little or much as you'd like. Pictures are encouraged!

Re: Your history of cars
Age: 25
# of vehicles owned: 10 cars, 1 boat
# of vehicles currently owned: 7.5 cars, 1 boat.
My girlfriend likes to name some of the cars, so I put their names at the top of each one. If it hasn't been given a name, I put a catch phrase or something generic.
History:
1) The first one
Car Year: 1993
Car Make: Nissan
Car Model: Sentra SE-R
Car Color: Red
Mod List: Stock with some Phoenix Gold speakers. This was a great car in stock form, equipped with LSD and everything. If you don't know about these, go drive one! It's like a FWD E30 M3 lol.
Can't find a picture online, dang :(
Where it is now: This was really my first car even though I didn't own it. Parents sold it a few years after buying car #2.
2) The one that started it all
Car Year: 2000
Car Make: Volkswagen
Car Model: Jetta 1.8t
Car Color: Tornado Red
Mod List: This was the first car I really modified extensively. In the end, it had a T3/T4 50 trim making 3xx whp. Custom intercooler, southbend clutch, built bottom end, all the best stuff I could throw at it. It had stock brakes and suspension though

Where it is now: I was on a quest for power, and FWD wasn't going to cut it. Sold it to a guy in a more northern part of FL. He kept it for a few years, then sold it to another guy who had it on Porsche twists and coils. I haven't kept track of it since, but I don't think the next few owners took very good care of it :(
3) DAS AUDI - My favorite
Car Year: 1991
Car Make: Audi
Car Model: 200 20vt
Car Color: Pearl White
Mod List: Holset H1C, then HX52, now who knows, dry sump soon? You all know the drill. Also has Porsche 911 front brakes, custom coilover suspension, etc.

I always loved that booty

Where it is now: At Marc's shop in NH waiting to be finished (not waiting for Marc)!
4) The E34 - Das old man
Car Year: 1994
Car Make: BMW
Car Model: 530i 5 speed
Car Color: Schwarz II
Mod List: Chip, Bilstein + H&R, cut off muffler, start the car with a code you enter into the radio (ignition switch broke), HID headlights, UUC short shifter.

Where it is now: Bought for $900 with 352k miles on it to use as a daily while working on the 200. Gave it to my friend Justin to drive after I bought my M5. We're kinda partners in it now. It has 362k miles on it. We're hoping to get to at least 400k.
5) The Beast (M5)
Car Year: 2001.5
Car Make: BMW
Car Model: M5
Car Color: Anthracite
Mod List: Muffler Delete, Bilstein coilovers, 19" BB5 LM, MKIV Navigation upgrade. All mods done by the PO. 69k miles when I bought it and nearly flawless. It's such a great machine.

Where it is now: I bought this as a reward to myself for working in Saudi Arabia. It's currently In a barn in Pennsylvania. It'll be going in a car bag soon to keep the critters out while I'm gone.
6) The Shark
Car Year: 1985
Car Make: BMW
Car Model: 635csi (euro import)
Car Color: Schwarz I
Mod List: Lots of rust, and gutted because of it. Custom coilovers, spherical bearing upper control arm bushings, only the best suspension parts. Hope to turbo it soon.

Where it is now: Bought it to have a project while I was working in FL. Currently in FL awaiting a journey North to be stored in a barn somewhere until I have time to drive/fix it.
7) Belle the X3
Car Year: 2012
Car Make: BMW
Car Model: F25 X3
Car Color: Space Gray Metallic
Mod List: None, but recently switched out the crap plastic trim for brushed aluminum. It's a great, simple, and reliable car.

Where it is now: I bought this for my girlfriend because she is/was going to school in Baltimore where it gets icy. Her old Ford truck was dangerous in the winter. She is in love with it and calls "her" Belle. Belle got stolen recently, but was recovered completely unharmed! Currently residing in Baltimore.
8) The mistake
Car Year: 2001
Car Make: BMW
Car Model: E46 330i
Car Color: Schwarz III
Mod List: Stock except some upgraded control arm bushings and shocks. Golf tee mod in the muffler too lol. I bought this to flip (paid $1500). I put about $1500 into it to get it in tip top shape.

Where it is now: I would love to sell it now, but my Dad decided he wanted it instead. He hasn't paid me for it, but I did live with him for free for a year.
9) The legend
Car Year: 1991
Car Make: BMW
Car Model: M3
Car Color: Diamond Schwarz
Mod List: Stock, and staying that way! I may put a Miller MAF on it just to see if that helps get it running properly as it has a rough idle. It runs great at WOT though

Where it is now: Sitting in the garage in FL, waiting for a journey up north. Also waiting for it's value to go up!
10) Gaston
Car Year: 2009
Car Make: Porsche
Car Model: Cayenne Turbo S
Car Color: Sparkly Black
Mod List: 3" cat delete and midsection, EVOMS intakes. Soon: EVOMS 620hp tune, muffler.

Where it is now: With me in Baltimore waiting to transport me to the next rig.
# of vehicles owned: 10 cars, 1 boat
# of vehicles currently owned: 7.5 cars, 1 boat.

10) Gaston

Gaston because it's big, fat, and likes to cook? :-D
Re: Your history of cars
lol no, think Beauty and the Beast. Big, handsom, and manly or tall, dark, and handsome (her opinion, not mine)! The Cayenne is a bit heavy, but don't forget muscle is heavier than fat
To your credit, the nickname most cayenne owners give their rides is "The Pig."
Belle and The Beast are also from Beauty and the Beast, although the typical nickname for the E39 M5 among M5 owners is also beast, so that worked out well.

Re: Your history of cars
54 years old
This is from my thread's first page,
"I've been swapping drivetrains in and out of VW's for 35+ years; the bodies get rusted out or crashed and then it's find another good body & repeat. I've had been exclusive to VW's all this time save for 2 Chevy trucks and a few others; a '58 Apache and a '71 plow truck. I received my first beetle; a '62, for my 12th birthday(thanks Mom). It was my field car. I've owned over 20 beetles, 4 squarebacks, a fastback, a '65 kombi, 3 german rabbits, loved my diesel vanagon, with my favorite cars being the 4 Dashers.
I would put 250 to 300k on each and really preferred the VW B1 inline setup.I loved the German/A2s as well. The '85 Jetta diesel was 1 of the best cars VW ever made IMO; retired one @420k, 44 mpg every tank."
I've owned 54 vehicles in 42 years; driven half of them. I insist the 80q TDI is my favorite. It has what I need. All vehicles were made in West Germany except the trucks.
P.S.I also had 2 CJ2As, 2 '64+'69 Land Rovers.
Current:
99.5 Jetta
'89 80q
'91 80q TDI
2 BMW"s,'85 R80

I've owned 54 vehicles in 42 years; driven half of them. I insist the 80q TDI is my favorite. It has what I need. All vehicles were made in West Germany except the trucks.
P.S.I also had 2 CJ2As, 2 '64+'69 Land Rovers.
Current:
99.5 Jetta
'89 80q
'91 80q TDI
2 BMW"s,'85 R80

Re: Your history of cars
Age: 26
# of vehicles owned: 20-25? Lotsa parts cars
# of vehicles currently owned: 3 cars
1.) 1987 Nissan 200sx - I autocrossed and tracked the shit out of this thing. It was SO slow. My 1.6 miata would DECIMATE it in a straight line. But I learned a lot and it built me into a much better and more competitive driver. At my first track day: (note that Corvette was BRAND NEW- like the first C6 I had ever seen... that makes me feel old :( )

2.) 1987 VW GTI - this is really the car that started it all. It's how I was introduced to the local VW/Audi scene where people were building crazy stuff (relatively). Through these people is how I met Dana, Cyrus, and essentially how I got my current job at Rennline as my boss Tom Ritt was also part of that group back in the day.
I still have this one and it's not going anywhere ever
In it's prime 2.0l 3A/8v 13:1, solid lifters, CIS etc. Eventually melted completely through 2 pistons on my way to college

3.)3-4 MK2's and MK3's... and a Fox? All brief and rarely/never driven
4.) 1990 Mazda Miata- I'm sure it's dead now it had 175K on it when I had it back in 2006-07 and had been rolled twice. I continued to beat this thing and we were pretty competitive in the local auto-x scene for a couple years. Was BEAT but was also probably the most fun car I've ever owned. Too bad I don't really fit in them :(

5.) 1990 G60 Corrado: Was a super clean driver, then the HG popped and I decided to turbo convert it with a cross flow head and digi 1. I did eventually get the car running enough for my first taste of boost and ended up trading it unfinished for #6

ABA head on PG block w/ 20vt manifold cut down, K26 and 944 intercooler. This was actually a pretty cool project, sad I never really finished it

6.)1989 Audi 200tqa: How I met you guys
What started as a relatively clean 200tqa was my first standalone project and testbed for improving my skills. Went through several iterations, ran a 14.3 @97 with a bad misfire, I'm sure it would have run 13's if I could have pulled off a clean run. Ended up with a Holset/K26 hybrid on Megasquirt, was eventually parted :(

7.)A bunch of 200's... 2-3? Mostly parts cars, I also owned a 5 series BMW briefly, a Chevy Malibu I bought to flip.
8.) The best $500 5k ever- Bought on Megasquirt 1.01 (OG!) w/ 2 piece exhaust mani, H&R/Koni, Euro Lights 15psi and a lot of fun. Was worth more in parts than whole :(

9.) an MK4 I bought, drove a bit and flipped
10.) 2x B6 3.0l's- one is my current car, other got parted/scrapped. Current one is VEMS, HX35, tube manifold, intercooler from the 200, 870cc's Walbro 400, AEB pistons on SCATs, ARP head studs w/ 01E B6. Pretty solid combo.

I'M ON A BOAT

Then this thing which has destroyed me financially and is going to go away (still for a very healthy profit
)

And I'm forgetting a bunch... But that was really fun!

Re: Your history of cars
In order for them to make the list I had them for at least a year and drove them (for at least a year)... I had numerous flips and purchases to bang with Nitrous (most fun was a 1965 for panel van - lived for 3 weeks with a 200 HP plate kit! before it overheated and caught on fire.
Yes I used to have a nitrous fill station and buy it in bulk.
9 bikes and 24 vehicles and some other toys.
