SO glad to hear that was the problem - Even happier it's being resolved.

As much as we all bash 034 stuff, until there is an alternative to many things that's what it is. I recently had my Michelin man hose split 2 months out of warranty and they covered me for just shipping... They made it right, so I can't hate on them for that, but yes I did have to kind of throw a mini shit fit.

They could really turn around their reputation with some simple investigation and some hands on work.

IE. Get someone to Drop a couple TIG dimes on their motor mounts, these trigger wheel etc. I get that they can't just dump all their defective products but there is a lot they could be doing to not be hearing such hate all the time.

They will never turn their reputation around with people like us because they do not engineer their products and the ownership of the company has no integrity. Their stuff is garbage and always will be. First its a motor mount, then an exhaust manifold, then it's spark plug wires, flywheels, trigger wheels, and more! Not a single revision on any of the parts, just the same old $**tty $**t all the time. Anyone with even a hint of an engineering background can see why their stuff sucks and anyone with a conscience can understand why one wouldn't want to deal with their customer service and lack of integrity.

They can refuse to sell me anything for the truth I talk. I'd be glad to spend more time and money engineering my own parts than to run their crap.

I'm so glad we can speak freely on this forum :)

*Cough* TRIGGER WHEELS *COUGH*

And Small Chassis strut mounts.

In all honesty. I'm seriously torn, because finding parts for our cars gets harder and harder especially aftermarket, but on the other hand, when they make those aftermarket parts and they're total shit, what else can we do but complain about it and trash it? Some of their parts aren't bad, but they built their success on classic audi's, and rode that success to the newer cars, and then didn't care when the older stuff all failed (even though the stuff never lasted that long anyways)

It's probably a good thing nobody from 034 was at BBQ with the banter and anti-034 jokes coming from my table.... and I think a couple others...
It's not like they can make a profit selling classic Audi parts, there's not a whole lot of money in it, and I don't think anybody would buy it anymore.

Most of their stuff for newer Audi's fails too, so I'm not actually sure where I'm going with this.

Me and Hank have discussed this. pretty sure the 034 employee handbook consists of a mostly empty book, and on the last page, the one phrase to remember when answering the phone:

"We've never heard of that problem before".

That, and part of the hiring process includes a test on the ability to bullshit people.

It sounds like Apikol is going to weld it together as best they can as the metal quality is total garbage and tough to weld. The proverbial band-aid on a turd. Just to get him home. They are doing their best. Those guys are top notch down there! Sux to have to put in all this work, only to have to come up with a better solution after getting home...

The "ive never seen this before" sucks because when ever I say it as a business owner, I feel like nobody believes me :)

I have become slightly more understanding to 034s shortcomings as a small business owner, there is simply not enough time or manpower to give all products 100% of the due testing cycles and variants AND still make money. That said, I pull products that are problematic. 034 keeps circulating them it seems like and even making more problematic products.

Yeah, well Hank, you make it right. That's a huge, glaring difference between you and them. I couldn't even compare your customer service to theirs. When I talk to you I feel you're honest. When I've spoken with them I feel they're just telling me something in order to make a sale or get me off the phone...

That's the key.

Still, there is no need for testing cycles and variants for a product which is actually engineered. Do you think Pratt & Whitney can waste their 1 week long engine testing window that comes along once per year for a part that is going to fail? Hell no! People actually engineer that stuff, and it works as intended the first time. It doesn't take much to do some rudimentary calculations to show whether a given part will last or not. Don't want to get in-depth and do a bunch of FEA on the part to get it down to the gnat's ass in terms of factor of safety/efficiency? Over build it! First principles are enough to design any part we are interested in. It may be over-built a bit, but that's a lot better than just throwing stuff at the wall and hoping it sticks.

If you still want to "design" parts without any way of anticipating failure modes and life expectancy, at least have the integrity to replace the parts or stop selling them when they do break. I simply cannot imagine selling something I knew was defective to any customer. How can Javad live with himself? :shame:

Millions of miles vs. however long all the 034 60-2 wheels have lasted :idunno: Not saying it's the best, just wondering if there was a reason he didn't use it; which was answered and I understand 100%.

Oh, I know. I'm not saying the 034 solution is better. I'm just saying the Audi trigger system does not always play nice with VEMS. It definitely wont like the kind of RPMs I need from it, so I will go with a different trigger setup. It will not be 034 or front mounted though!
