What in the world is this thing called? (86 CGT)

Hey fellas,

Wanted to see if you guys could help me out with identifying this part. It was in the boot attached to the two black brackets that are riveted in, and had an amp mounted on it. I'm assuming it's just called a rack mount but I've had no luck finding another one, or even a picture of the damn thing. Any ideas? Pics below

Honestly, it looks like somthing someone made to mount the amp that was on it.
