Dreaming of a T44 Avant

Post by loxxrider »

I love my cayenne for work purposes, but I hate the fact that it's a majorly depreciating asset.im not used to that!

While driving home from a job the other day I started thinking how cool it would be to have an Audi avant for the job instead. I only trust 5 cylinder audis though, so it'd have to be an urs6 or 200 20v avant. The obvious choice is the t44 of course ;)

The problem is, I'd need one reliable enough to get me to and from work about 250 miles each way a few times a month without fear of ever breaking down. If there was a nut and bolt restored 200 20v avant out there, I feel that would be perfect. I don't think that's happening any time soon or ever though. Thus, the dream!

I'd also have to sell the Cayenne for decent money. Anyone want one? :D

I've nut and bolt restored the engine and transmission in my avant. I also put a new power steering system in, new a/c system, as well as redid all the fuel lines, new coolant lines. I also restored the interior, new headliner, new stereo system.

Every suspension component and bushing up front (including subframe and motor/trans mounts)is new OEM save for the shocks as I am going to do coil overs.

All that is left for the car to be "new" are the brakes and rear end of the car, which I have a torsen ready to rebuild and put in.

Every part in this car is OEM, Lemforder or TRW. Every bolt is stainless or as high a grade zinc plated as possible.

With that said, the amount of money i've dumped into this car makes me think it'll be difficult for you to find someone willing to take the depreciation of said restoration and sell the car for what its worth.

These things are irreplaceable at this point :-(

But good luck! Its a never ending fun journey.

Don't get a ugly t44 avant. It will make your beautiful car collection in your drive way less appealing. :hide: Haha I say urs6 avant or bust. Or or you could buy my e39 540i wagon. 6speed, 98k miles. Then I can build my 200!

I need AWD though! Quattro or bust. Plus, I need to make sure I don't increase my BMW/VAG ratio any more lol

URS6 would definitely be sweet, but I like the idea of owning one of 150 or so avants. Save the T44s!

That would definitely be a nice ride. I don't need anything to upgrade at this point lol. I need to practice more self control!

Maybe nick will want to sell his to me :)

Haha that's the last thing I need. One crazy t44 and one stock to mild one is plenty :)

Now if I can just keep this job... My colleagues are getting laid off left and right! Don't be too happy about those low gas prices. Lots of people like me are losing their jobs over it, and our economy will suffer as a result.

Despite what the Oil Prince in the KSA says, oil prices will recover. He said it would never hit $100 again, but I am not so sure.
What OPEC wants is to undercut the shale oil business, after shale oil has gone bust, prices will go up.

We'll see. Some are saying its going to hit 30,Thebes not go above 60 for a few more years. Others (opec) are saying it's going to hit 200 this summer! I think it's going to be back at 60 this summer at least.

We dropped another 93 rigs this week. The going rate is about 5-10% fewer rigs every week.

30? :o Has demand dropped that much? And 200 by summer? In their dreams.

Yeah I agree with the 200 being bs. Demand hasn't dropped, it's just that supply is in excess and others can produce it cheaper than we can.

Luckily, it looks like I'm going to survive at least this round of layoffs.

Yeah, thanks. I was a little worried, but I was told they're actually looking to promote me, so that works! I came first in my class within the company training and have built a good rep with those who matter in the office, so I think that's why I'm sticking around while others aren't. Always give it your best boys and girls!

I think that'll get me though the next round too, but when big red buys us, who knows what will happen. Just gotta make it while I can :)
