This car damn near gave me a stroke yesterday and today. The other night I came home and had to go through a little bit of snow and ice to park. Next thing I know the idiot lights are freaking out. The serpentine belt got knocked out somehow but no big deal right? WRONG!!!!!!!! I spent 3 hours in -5 degrees with the fucking wind blowing in my face on my back underneath this damn thing trying to get the damn belt back on. Not only were most of my tools at work, but you need a very specific tool...an offset 13mm box wrench.....great. Finally I give up and use my insurance to get a free tow and ride to work so I can get the damn thing on a lift. Once I got it up on the lift, it took 5 mins carefully wielding a pry bar and another set of hands to get the belt back on. Ok 1st problem solved.....oh wait....what's this stream of fucking OIL?!!?!?!?

Oil cooler line (short one from adapter to cooler) failed inside at the crimp on the adapter side. Lovely. Guess Ill just stroll on down to the dealer and ask for a hose that hasnt been available for 15 years right? No, I called up a friend and come to find out his v8q part car still had the complete oil cooler assembly still attached. Ok fine and I head over to pull it in -20 thousand degree cold and a 5000mph wind. Thank god it only took 5 minutes.

So I show up to work early this morning and throw the entire cooler assembly on. Took 5 minutes. Probably the ONLY easy thing to do on this car I swear to god......... Go to fire up car.....PINHOLE LEAK IN THE EXACT SAME HOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

So I went to the local hose shop and they fabricated a new one up with the old fittings. $30 later, I have a brand new hose that does not leak and now my car drives awesome again.

Why did this car damn near give me a stroke? Only the fact that I am taking it to Sun Valley, Idaho, on THURSDAY!!!!! Jeez. Thank god it happened now and not in the middle of cattletown Montana

It's times like these I'm glad I don't live near a cliff I could drive the car off of.

Look at the bright side, though! Think of all the other things that could go wrong on Thursday!

Pretty sure I've always just used a ratchet with a deep socket to pull my serp belt on/off on my ABH. Might be a bit different since I have an electric fan though, I'm guessing the V8 has a clutch fan?

The v8 has both an electric fan and a clutch (viscous) fan. There is not enough room to get a deep OR a semi-deep on which is what I was trying to do. Audi specifically says you need an offset 13mm box wrench to do the job. There are some threads online that say people had to remove the viscous fan to get at the damn acorn nut. I have never owned anything this hard to work on. But man does it drive nice

Why cut out the trans tunnel?

I figure you, of all people, would be well acquainted with a trusty BFH.

You need the trans tunnel out of a manual car to fit the manual transmission on the v8. Automatic tunnel wont work with the 016 trans

I am, however, going to try and fit the transmission in there first before cutting

Looking for a 200 20v transmission in good shape people. I have everything except the clutch (but already sourced) and the transmission! Once the dodge is fixed, this is getting torn apart!!!

I have a spare(kind of) that came with the car when I bought it. PO had it replaced due to a bad output bearing?? So I have the original 140K transmission out of mine taking up space in my basement if you think youd want to mess with it. $Free.99 plus shipping.

Been a while since I've updated this thread but here goes. A lot has been happening recently with this one.

New 70a motor mounts (HPR of course lololololol)
New Polyurethane Front Subframe Bushings
New Front Control Arms and bushings
Valve Cover Gaskets
Rebuilt all the power steering lines (NO MORE LEAKS!!!!!)
New Starter (old one was worn down)
Fixed the sticky throttle issue (bracket on firewall is broken; made a metal bracket to hold plastic bracket in place)
Front and Rear Bilstein Shocks
Front top hats and bearings

For the future:

Throwing on a set of Porsche SUV Brakes
Set of D12 A8L 19" with 255/35/19 tires
Almost have all the 5-speed parts accounted for

Good news for you urS guys.........

FINALLY finished up the v8q today. Holy hell what an insane difference in the driving experience. Due to the 70a mounts there is a slight vibration at idle but hardly anything to complain about.

The new polyurethane subframe bushings work like a CHARM. This car is so loveable to drive now it's insane. Its insanely smooth, crisp, firm, and quiet while driving. NO MORE SUBFRAME RATTLING!!!!!!!

After finally driving on my own products for the first time in a while, I'm a little more motivated to crank out some more sweet awesomeness lol.

As stated above, the following was done over the last month:

New 70a motor mounts (HPR of course lololololol)
New Polyurethane Front Subframe Bushings
New Front Control Arms and bushings
Valve Cover Gaskets
New Starter (old one was worn down)
Fixed the sticky throttle issue (bracket on firewall is broken; made a metal bracket to hold plastic bracket in place)
Front and Rear Bilstein Shocks
Front top hats and bearings
New Continental 215/60/15 tires

The following are plans for the v8q later this year:

New blower motor
New stereo system
Possibly 19s and tires
1986 4000cs Turbo Quattro
2001 Dodge Dakota R/T Standard Cab
1990 V8 quattro
1995 urS6
