Nice, now you'll always know what an ignition shortfall feels like. .024 is a good number I think.

I wonder if I should shrink my gaps down to .024. Runs fine on .028 though, but I'm running about 2.9ms base dwell.

Either one is a good choice but the COP's look sweeter IMO.

Will you continue to run these after the current work you are having done?

Yes sir.

Keep them large if it's running correct. You want them as large as possible without misfire.

It's been a while since I've had an update. I've been very busy with life. I finally graduated from college and have been settling into big boy job. Hopefully this means a little more coin for the Audi.
I missed Carlisle due to a family vacation. The 200 will be there next year I guarantee it!

I've been driving the Audi nearly every day and it has been doing very well. The strut mounts I made are still holding up although I need to modify the mounting plate to maximize camber adjustment.

Last evening, however, I had some trouble. The coolant temp went up higher than usual but soon it went down to lower than usual (idle at a stoplight.) It stayed low until I got home. When I shut the car off the fan stayed on. I hooked up vems and it was saying coolant temp was 90°C. It continued to stay there after 5 minutes of fan running. I had to unplug battery to get it to stop.

Could this be a busted coolant temp sensor? The physical gauge in the car 'appeared' to be working properly but VEMS was staying at a set number. I also noticed there are several coolant sensors....thanks for any suggestions!

Possibility of air in the system. I've had this happen numerous times on the stock cooling management. Try bleeding and see if you are low on coolant. Air will also cause the temp to fluctuate.

Then you need to figure out WHY there is air in the system. Mine ended up being a bad heater core hose. Found that after tearing the head off (AGAIN) recently

It has been quite a while since I last posted. The Audi doesn't go out much in winter but I have adapted some IS300 Lexus wheels to fit and have some Blizzaks on it in so I can get to work in case my truck won't start or gets stuck. :P

I'm having a clunk on engagement in the rear again. I replaced the rear arm bushing with yodasfro fix and I think I did a crappy job. :shame:

Hopefully I will acquire some time/funds to get COP and hopefully get some more power out of it soon...

The day before swapping out wheels.

Actually, I've never had the issue re-occur and I only drive it 3-4 times a month during winter so i haven't actually looked into it yet..

I don't really have much to update lately as I haven't had the excess funds in a while to purchase parts. :wah:

I have been driving the 200 and enjoying it though! :P

Getting it ready last weekend for a small Euro meet down in Louisville, KY this upcoming weekend. Water by the Bridge 2015.
First Euro meet I have ever taken this thing too, hopefully get some positive feedback!

It looks really good! Definitely one of my favorite t44s around. Good luck at the meet, it should get some attention. If someone doesn't like it, it's because they don't know what it is!

Hi Nick

Was good to meet you today, nice to chat to a fellow 200 owner, sorry I didn't get chance to have a good look at your avant in the end.
Are you going to any other Midwest shows this season?

Nice project thread BTW, just read through what you've done, mind blowing! (I NEED VEMS NOW)

take care

If the show scene/attendees are anything like around here I'm sure it got plenty of attention. I use my wagon to haul booth display stuff for the shop to 4-6 shows a year and it gets more attention than the TTRS with stage 3, custom CF stuff, $10k ADV.1 wheels and KW V3s. And my wagon is stock. I explain UFO brakes 2-4 times per show and jokingly give my boss a piece of paper with info written on it because he ends up answering questions about it also. It's pretty funny.

I actually didn't spend much time around the car so I'm not sure about how it was percieved. I was in awh at the fact there was another 200 and even 2 coupe quattros!

Chappers, I didn't happen to catch your name.
I will most likely attend SoWo with a group of friends this year if you make it to Helen, GA.

Haha I didn't know about SoWo or Helen GA, I googled it and thought "ooh what a lovely quaint place, reminds me of trips to Germany" showed the wife the website and we said it be nice to take the kids......then happened to click the videos, erm oh my, think we're a tad bit old for that carnage. Might give that one a miss....lol

Have fun tho.

Chris, glad you got a chance to check out the wagon version. (how they all should be, IMHO) :P

As you can tell in the picture, my radiator is being a nuisance again.

It looks as if the first few rows of fins on the bottom leak. When the fans kicks on it launches coolant all over my engine bay.
I replaced the radiator last year due to the same issue, but on the 20+ yo factory radiator. I wouldn't think this should happen so soon.

Anyone have any advice on what's going wrong or a nicer quality radiator to buy and fix this?

I think I'm going to go ahead and do some other maintenance to the car while I'm in there. I don't know when the last timing belt was done and I'm approaching ~180,000 miles on the car. Should I go ahead and swap the 7A cams I have laying around at the same time...?

That's the perfect time to do them.

Sounds like you either got a crap replacement radiator or maybe you have a pressure issue with your cooling system? Has it overheated with that rad in?

Ha, I do have more of a hankering for the Avant version, I'd love a bigger boot especially having kids! Want to swap?

you said you saw mine for sale on the interweb a while back, it was on 'German cars for sale', until I bought it about April 2014.

Chris,

Sounds like i'll get the 7A cams ready!
I have had one issue with this radiator where I was sitting in traffic for a few hours and the car shut off, but the coolant temp wasn't past anything usual. I have had the same issue happen on original radiator and have had pressure issues with thermostat housing and secondary water pump which have all had leaks in the past 2 years.

I just need to go through the entire cooling system and re-do all the seals

I've been slacking on this car lately...
I recently bought a 2015 Yamaha FZ-07 and have been neglecting the Audi way more than I should.

With a day off yesterday I finally tore into the car trying to address a few issues I have with it.

1) Radiator leaks (again) it looks like the bottom mount of the radiator cracked and forced its way up into the bottom rows creating a leak... Will order another one and hopefully fix that up.

2) This is the first time I've had the front bumper off the car. I figured since it is this far apart I will go ahead and do the timing belt since I have no known last change date. It looks rather new which gives me a little relief since I was beating the shit out of it...But I want to go ahead and swap out for a hardened cog and freshen up the bearing, etc.

3) Head gasket....The car is running 20PSI on the factory 180K+ mile head gasket. Should I go ahead and do a new head gasket w/ ARP studs or should I just leave it alone...? The "don't fix it if it ain't broke" saying has bit me in the butt a few times...

4) More power. What options are there for exhaust manifolds? I have a hard time coughing up 1,200$ for a beautifully made header that flows more than I will ever need...

Thoughts? suggestions?
