Good tip on the compressed air into the banjo bolts. Gonna have to bank that for later.

I haven't updated this in a while.

Clutch has been done since Jan. but still slips if aggressively floored in 5th, I guess that's what I get for just doing a stock replacement, but I do a lot of highway driving so it may just need a bit longer to break-in... I hope.

I also replaced the after run pump as it was by passed.

The car needs a front wheel bearing pretty badly, it isn't that noisy but I can hear it click a bit if I wiggle the wheel. So I ordered complete new tie rods, the bearing, powerflex inner and outer sway bushings and I'm thinking about the inner control arm sphericals. I also got quality HD air cooled 911 engine mounts to slightly mod for trans mounts for like $20, Theyre no HPR mounts but they'll do for now. My upper strut mounts are in good shape so all I need to get is subframe mounts and I'll refresh the front end.

I also got some energy suspension 9.9xxx bushings for the front of the rear lower trap arms and rear upper mounts, the rest of the stuff is still kinda tight but at some point over the summer I'll throw everything apikol has for the rear end at it.

If I go beyond just my MRC tune I'll likely go VEMS, not sure if I'll go econoseal + rewire or PnP but I'm kinda leaning towards the rewire just because all that shit is getting old... Input is welcome. Returning to stock won't be an issue as the car will be 25 at the end of the year so it'll be emissions exempt.

As far as the power goal, I'll either see what's up with the billet K24 or have a Volvo center and compressor stuffed in my housing or get my paws on a Porsche #8 housing (thoughts? I like fast spool and don't really rev the piss out of my cars, and I would be super pleased if I got 300 wheel on pump). I assume this may be possible with just a tune? Although the distributor will become a liability, I've considered an AAN pin swap... But I dunno...

Next summer the head will come off and get freshened up and ARP studs/MLs gasket, I'll powder coat the valve cover, intake and other bits also.

Replaced the front pass wheel bearing yesterday. I threw in some powerflex sway-control arm bushings in too, the inner bar bushings are on back order but that's OK because I still need to install at least the new right control arm I have and my new steering tie rods.

I ran out of time for the day and didn't have a replacement inner arm bolt. My current bolt seems to be rusted solid in the metal sleeve in the bushing, which is pretty well torn.

I got the last Moog "K" part number arm off amazon for $9 it seems only "RK" numbers are left for the other side, but I may as well do both as the ball joint boots are torn too. I'll likely keep Em on the shelf and just clean/reboot as spares and eventually throw sphericals in the bushing end.

Either way, not feeling like a front wheel may fall off at any time is nice and even just the outer sway powerflex bushings are a nice improvement.

Always nice when it doesn't feel like parts.will.be flying off anytime soon!

I have a nib set of inner spherical bearings for you if you want them, tried to fit to my S4 but it didn't work out.

Pm me if you want them.

When you're all done with the front suspension refresh, care to make a list of the parts you used? Glad to hear this thing is getting some love :)

I think you would do well to go VEMS with the COP conversion harness and 2.0T coils and nothing more than a bit of shimming on the distributor after installation of the 034 steel gear. I don't have any issues here (wiring) and Im maxing out at 27 PSI on my poor little k24. I really do feel bad for it lol. I am gonna be lurking your thread to see what you find out about the turbo upgrades. Only thing is I rev the piss out of my cars :) subscribed

If you Rev the piss out of it (7500-8k) and want power without appreciable drop off until red line, you shouldn't go smaller than gt30r or equivalent in my opinion.

I said equivalent. Holset h1c or hx35 will also go to 8k with no appreciable drop off.

The Powerflex 25mm sway bar bushings came in a couple weeks ago, finally had tme to get those installed along with a new pass control arm (inner bushing was shot). Had to sawzall the arm out since the bolt was seized in the center.

The car feels great and there doesn't seem to be much if any extra NVH, but I'm also running the stock 15s with huge sidewall tires so there probably wouldnt be much even with delrin or aluminum lol.

I also replaced the nut and bolt with a proper spring and bolt setup on both the exhaust pipes. I broke them both when doing the clutch and one of the replacement bolts fell out and was rattling. I also am pretty sure my non-gutted cat is rattling and will need to be gutted... just sticking it out until my last emissions test coming up this fall.

I have an 034 silicone PCV setup waiting to go on. Might throw that on this week after work one night. Once I get the rear suspension semi-sorted... I have Energy Suspension forward trap arm bushings and I'll be ordering a few other bits... I'll throw in the new front tie-rods I have then align it on our recent hinter hawk-eye.

I've been toying witht he idea of air suspension in the rear of the car. I wouldn't use a fancy controller, just a valve linked to a control arm so it would auto level like in a big-rig... but I think I've decided I hate air suspension (I've installed 3 and they either ride great or handle great, never really both... and I've worked on quite a few allroads and an X5 and they just tend to be nightmares) so I will likely just stock with springs.

I'm not likely to lower the car any time soon, it is my primary car in the winter and I like having something I can drive up over curbs with.

Depending on when I need brakes and tires, I will be replacing both at the same time with upgrades. For brakes I'm thinking B7 A4... same 320mm sized rotor as B5 S4, a big single piston... which I prefer for simplicity... and way cheaper pad sets than the HP2s. For example, we sell Stoptech Street Performance pads for the HP2's for $130 and only $80 for the B7, list is $202 and $127 respectively. The rotor listed for both are the same in Stoptechs listings. For wheels I'll just be tossing on some B5 S4 17" Avvus wheels. The wheels will probably happen first as I still have some brake life left on the UFO's but I'll need tires before winter.

Installed the new steering tie rods, front trap arm poly bushings and did a quick front end alignment. Didn't bother with the rear because I need camber links and probably toe bracket bushings, I'll do the inner trap arms because it would be dumb not to. I'll probably hold off on an apikol diff mount and subframe bushings until next year.

I hope to pick up some B5 S4 wheels for nothing from a pal in a week or 2. I'll get them on with new all seasons before first snowfall.

I'll probably do B7 A4 brakes sooner than later.
