problem with my vems!

Post by shark_22 »

Hi, we have install a vems 3.7 in my imrpeza with a h6 ez30r Subaru. When i bought it I didnt receive the ecu with logic ignition output, so we make it run when using the stepper(a-b-c),Now i got the ecu convert to logic level, I tried it but the car wont start.
I got spark at my coil(the are: 12v/gnd/5v signal)

The output who has be convert:
ec36-10
ec36-11
ec36-12
ec36-24
ec36-35
ec36-33

So im a 2+6,on my ignition sheet it said:
coil 0 pin 35
coil 1 pin 33
coil4 pin 11
coil 5 pin 12
coil 6 pin 24
coil7 pin 10

So I connect my cylinder in that order(coil 0= cylinder 1 and coil 7= cylinder 6)
I guess this is the good way to do?
Firing order is 1-6-3-2-5-4, so I probably dont have que good order?

Do I have anything else to change when running smart coil?

I got my config file too if somebody want it

thanks for the help :)

since you are going from wasted spark (3 coil outputs) to sequential (6 coil outputs) you'll need to check a few things. first off, if you lock your timing to 0, do you get a timing light flash at the zero mark on your crankshaft? if you dont, adjust your crank trigger offset until it lines up.

if it does line up and you are not getting any signs of life (no popping or sputtering) you are probably 180 degrees off. rotate your ignition order by 3 positions and it will probably fire right up, assuming you have the ignition outputs in the correct fire order.

Hope that helps.

Hi Marc,

We used a timing light yesterday. Yes light flashes at 0 deg on #1. We get some popping sounds and it fires against the starter in some cycles.
Ignition outputs are in the right order. We checked signal wire between ECU and each coil to make sure we had the proper cylinders. Thanks for helping us!

thanks Marc, we have rotate 3 time the firing order, and now im hearing some poping sound in the exhaust, but not start.
I guess we have to check each cylinder with the timing light because look like something is not well set
