Quite the variety!

Just going by initial impressions, which car has struck you as the most "special" of the lot so far?

Oh man that's tough. The RS7 is the most brutally fast, the Ferrari is the most "when you think exotic..." But I've always had a soft spot for air cooleds, I've kinda become "the guy" for them at work. Last one I inspected and did a compression test. 35k mile '87 with original plugs and air/fuel filters. As time goes by I will own an S7 and either an early 911 or 914 even.

Yeah we have been getting some really cool stuff in. Some big things in the works too, hopefully we will be even more specialized in coming months.

Yeah those are relics. We have a sick new Bosch tranny jack on the way too. We also have a nice lift table for doing 4.2 S4 chains.

I've only ever used the flex funnel to keep fluids off subframes and such, for that it's great.

Put a Evolution header on a 2.5 Jetta that already has an IE intake setup. I already love how it sounds... Header and AWE exhaust will make it amazing. The header is ok quality but fitment wasn't great at the downpipe to exhaust or under the kombi valve hard pipe that goes to the head.

Speaking of, the sai system seems useless on this car, the air ports at below the exhaust ports but they are blocked by the gasket, weird.

Anyway, pic.

Finished this up yesterday, waiting on a base tune. It's probably going to blow up because it's a Subaru.

I repaired/restored classic and semi-exotic cars for almost 15 years and I miss it. I don't have the money to always be doing big projects on my own car. Fun to get paid to do it, just take care of your body because it will hurt later

Yeah, I love it but it can be tough and a little painful, I think I'm at least somewhat of a masochist because I kinda like it most of the time, makes me feel accomplished.

I have been investing in quality tools... Some nice snap-on stuff, larger comfort grip stuff, which makes everything a little easier. We also have nice shop equipment too. I actually finished home brewing a 2.0T TSI walnut blaster, which made carbon cleaning jobs much easier., I need to make RS4 attachments.

What exhaust manifold is that on the Subaru? I've never seen one with the turbo that high up before. And interesting plumbing routing, took me a moment to realize why there was still a pipe under the intake.

EVERYTHING blows up. It's just a matter of time. Ya do everything you can to ensure it won't blow up, of course, but every candle burns out sooner or later, and performance stuff is more like a firecracker than a candle :)

It's this kit: http://www.extremeturbosystems.com/ETS- ... o-Kit.html

I think it's a 6262 or 6266 I forget. Fairly standard "rotated turbo" setup.

You have the same lifts we have, too. Or, at least, I can't make out the name, it doesn't look like Ben Pearson, but the design of the arms and everything is the same.

Bizarro-world :)

I won't clutter your thread with my pics, but I got to take a 13,000mi all original Grand National (even had the original airbox still in it, that NEVER happens!) and do a full inspection. Felt dirty removing the little assembly-line clips holding the drums to the axles. Felt dirtier when I installed a Tinman cold air intake, adjustable fuel regulator, chip, and a complete turbo-back exhaust... At least the owner kept all the rare pieces for a potential future return-to-stock.

Ours are Forward lifts iirc.

Feel free to upload cool pics, especially a Gbody! I built a '79 monte (think training day) in my late teens. Almost 400hp, 3500ish stall, built TH350, locker 4.11:1.

I'd recommend your customer update the oil pump. The original aluminum ones are very failure prone. No sleeve iirc and they slowly wear, filling engine with aluminum while also losing pressure.

We... do a lot of turbo Buick engines ;)

Here's the last GN I worked on:

Image

The engine that was in it was detonated. Hard. The main caps and block registers were so fretted that they looked like coarse rasps. We rebuilt it, updated a few things, fixed some wiring and fuel system issues, and installed a standalone. I figure it's a very tame 600hp, running close to the limits of the injectors more than anything.

Wish I had the other trophy shot... three GNs and that 4th-gen TA. The TA makes more power than the GNs combined :wtf:

If you know G-bodies then you probably know what this is:

Image

Image

Most powerful one I worked with to date. Brain-rebootingly quick. IIRC it did something like 830whp on E85. The car it is in runs mid-9s. The aluminum block is stronger than a stock block (gives up around 950-1000hp crank) but not as strong as a Stage II, but you can FIND the aluminum blocks, and they have provisions for the twelve extra head bolts. The reduction in weight is a nice bonus.
