FRP Bonneville Update

Post by FRP »

Jeff here,

Just wanted to provide a quick update and offer additional thanks to all of you who have contributed to the project monetarily and by words of encouragement.

REALLY appreciate and am very humbled by the support. Working hard to get it all together while keeping your motor projects moving forward here at FRP.

Got the new drive shaft installed. It isn't perfectly straight (production tolerances) but it is better than the old shaft and most importantly does not have the metallurgical cyclic fatigue that has accumulated in the old shaft with its many runs down the salt over the years.

I am adding more lead ballast within the wheel base to make it harder for the aero flow to lift the car - hope its enough!

Buttoning up the bottom of the car now so I can get it on the ground and re set the corner weights with the additional ballast.

Have a couple of minor updates to comply with rules changes since 2012.

Hope to have all this done by mid July so I can rest my bad back before the trip west.

Thanks again for the kind wishes and financial help - you all are great Audi fans!

Thanks for the update! Glad to hear things are progressing.

You're making it tempting to make the trip to Bonneville just to see this!

I heard a few days ago it was cancelled this year. I can't imagine how frustrated some competitors must get after all the time and prep getting ready. I hope it dries out for next years competition.

That really sucks, but better safe than sorry at the speeds people are reaching there.
