Indeed! Between the sips of beer and shifting, it's a wonder I didn't crash lol. As for the BOV, if you look real close in this pic, you can see it just before the bend. I bought an older 034 valve off of Mr.Green a couple of months ago. The IC and BOV are nicely hidden up front.

The black theme on mine just kind of fit. Cars black, the rs2 IC was black so I just kept it going. My race car is going to be the flashy one so this car I want a bit cleaner looking with everything somewhat hidden and smooth looking.

My thoughts too. I'm only going to have one gauge(boost) as well. I want a stock looking interior to match the exterior. I've been looking at either that Bluetooth/tablet setup or just a small LCD screen to feed me the "need to know" info, so I won't always need to have the laptop with.
Part of the main reason I want VEMS on my rally car(aan) is purely for the vems display and to get rid of the MAF lol.

Soooo..... Got a couple hours today to work on this thing today. I still need to finish up the megasquirt harness but am waiting on a couple things. Today I picked through and separated out some of the wiring under the hood that I don't need, from the ones that I do need. It helped clean up the engine bay a bit and I left the connectors on in case for some reason I needed them again.
I also started to redo the battery/starter/power cables too. The PO just had them all together using a bolt. My guess was they were just trying to get the car to run and then were going to go back and do it right. Anyhow, I dug through some parts bins and found the remote positive terminal off the UrS4 I parted last winter. Still needs some work and cleaning up, but you get the idea.
Also mounted the Hallman Boost Controller I ordered last week. Looks pretty good! Hopefully I can still sneak a fuel pressure gauge in the open port on the FPR. Still need to run all the lines yet but that's easy. I'll get all the wiring done first and then get the BC squared away.

Had a chance to get back out into the shop for a few hours today! Holy cow! It's starting to come along! I can safely say I'm a week or two out from trying to start this thing! Wooohooo!
I got word from Elaw that he's finished with my ECU so I jumped into high gear to get this wiring sorted for its arrival. I spent the better part of my morning sorting through the complete cluster fuck of bare shittily soldered wires, scotch locks and knicked wires under the dash to safely be able to hook up a battery to start testing circuits. After that I added a couple more splices to the harness on the bench and then through it in the car to start terminating ends. I had it all measured and laid out on a piece of cardboard to be able to just build the harness on the bench and install, but I guess I had a few too many when I measured it all out one night haha. In the car it went! I've got two main branches of the harness, left and right. Right branch is the injectors, IAT and TPS. Left branch is the hall, ICM, CLT and grounds. I got the right branch finished today with good intentions on cranking out the other side but the wife got home and reminded me she has softball tonight, so I had to shut it down. When it's all done, it should look pretty clean. The right branch will follow the fender and the left branch will follow the fire wall. I built a couple of injector jumper harnesses a couple weeks ago that will make life a bit easier for those PITA injectors that are buried under the fuel rail. Some day I may make new fuel rail brackets, but for now these should work fine.
After staring at my engine bay a bunch today, I also realized I didn't like where I had the battery terminal. It just didn't look right sitting there on the wheel well, so I moved it to the firewall and made up a new starter cable. I need to order up some heat wrap/sheathing for both the cable and fuel lines the hang out around the wastegate. I thought I had a bunch in a bin somewhere but can't seem to find it.
Super pumped for my ECU to make its way home. The wife and kiddos are leaving town for a few days so I should be able to get out and tidy a couple things up after work this weekend along with a solid day out there on Monday. We'll see though, I've been neglecting my dirt bike for a couple weeks trying to get stuff done around the house and garage. Busy busy!

Yeah. With how I wanted the IC to fit I had to trim the core support. I figured if I wasn't planning on running one on my AAN race car so my "babied" street car would be just fine with out a snub. After taking with a couple of guys making waaaay more power than I plan to, I put a pair of fox body mustang solid mount in the rally car to replace the 034 track densities, which then found their way into this car lol. If these 034 mounts shit the bed or move a bunch, I'll just pick up another pair of mustang mounts and plant that motor in there lol.

Get the mustang mounts now. Unless you want a nice dent in your hood. You will rio the 034 mounts right out with out a snub mount. I now have a complete set of Epic mounts from angry Taco, I like them a lot. Make sure to heat shield your PS motor mount. I have already melted the 80a poly in mine, and I wrapped my down pipe very well...

I assumed when I put them in that the 034 mounts weren't going to last forever. They're better than the floppy, old stickers that came out, that's for sure. I also had them lying around.... Until I notice wear or decent movement, I'm just going to leave them. They're easy enough to change out and at the moment, I've got loads of other stuff that would gladly suck up the $70.

It's def getting close. I'm still hoping to try and start it this week. As for the wires, it works pretty well for the most part. I've used the harder shrink wrap for routing wires through potentially sharp holes too.

A little update over the past few days or so. With the wife and kiddos gone for the weekend, I was able to nibble away a little bit here and there everyday after work. Had a full day Monday to work too and that was just a train wreck lol! One stupid little thing after another... I love living out in the sticks where the kids and I can ride, shoot all the ammo we want in the back yard and make all kinds of racket out in the shop in the middle of the night, but living 10 miles from town starts to get annoying when you keep forgetting stuff on a parts run! Ha! I bet I made 4-5 trips to town to get small stupid shit. I about shut it down at like 3pm to start drinking myself into Tueaday lol. I fought through and got just enough done to as where my conscience would let me call it quits.
Today(Tuesday) was an up and down ride too! I'm done now until Thursday and good riddance ha! This beer tastes frackin awesome, even though I'm covered in fuel..... Wife's not too happy that the house smells like the shop now but my wifi doesn't reach into the shop and I needed to look a couple of things up online hahaha.
Anyhow, enough of me complaining. So the past few days I got the megasquirt wired in. I had to rewire a couple things after talking with Elaw, wasn't much of a big deal but it's still a little time consuming. So, megasquirt is wired in and ready to go as of early this afternoon. I had a huge brain fart with the sensors I'm using with the megasquirt, being as I'm using GM IAT and CLT. Well, I was dumb and terminated the CLT sensor wires to GM shit but not before using up my last JPT terminals on the rewire I mentioned earlier lol. Derderder, Audi is all metric shit and the CLT sensor is 3/8.... I hunted around for a 14x1.5 to 3/8 adapter and couldn't find anything. Then started chasing around online for different GM sensors in 1/8, being as there's a sensor off a Saturn that is 1/8 and would work(with a 14mm to 1/8 adapter)but I'd need the connector too. Yadayadayda I ended up drilling and tapping the sensor housing to take my stupid 3/8 GM sensor haha. That whole stupid thing took a couple hours being as I had to wait for the parts to come in to the parts house, drive home only to have a "you' knew that!" moment when the 37/64 or whatever drill bit is shanked at 1/2" and MY drill is 3/8. Baaaack to town to figure that out... Ended up just buying a 1/2 chuck(handy little guy) and headed home to angrily drill the shit out of this stupid housing haha. I'm kind of jumping around between days now being as I don't recall the sequence of events too well now that I'm like 7-8 beers in now, bare with me...
Soooo.... Today, again. I put the finishing touches on the MS harness and roughly wired in power and the fuel pump trigger so I can test all my sensors and connections and what not. Plug the MS in, connect my laptop and holy shit! It works perfect! Lol. Calibrated the TPS by hand, being as I buggered up the 5000 throttle cable that DE80q sent me out of the kindness of his heart, along with his nice coil over rings. That throttle cable is another fiasco from Monday lol. I'm going to order a URQ cable from Audi Tradition next week.... Anyhow, checked all the sensors and voltages and everything is good. I notice though that the fuel pump wasn't kicking. Dug around a little and got the relay to trigger. Dug around some more and got power to the pump but the pump wasn't kicking on. Keep in mind this car has been in storage for like 10 years when I got it and the MS was cobbled together lol. The fuel tank was bone dry, pumps not kicking on and I had to leave to pick up the kiddos. I'm Mr Mom until my wife gets home from work and then I boogie to town to get fuel. Add fuel and snug down the FP gauge and hit the key. Still no fuel pump. Christ.... My rally 4k has a ways to go and isn't going to need a fuel pump for awhile so I swiped it and threw it in this car. Sweet! A working fuel pump! Flip the key, prime everything and bam! Fuel pressure goes through the roof! What. In. The. Shit. Fiddle fucked around scratching my head thinking the FPR might be gummed up and stuck until I was staring at the return line Id just disconnected. Grabbed the air gun and blasted air through it only to get a face full of fuel. Yuuuusss... Ok. Plugged. Crawled back under the car into the puddle of fuel I had going from swapping fuel pumps, to disconnect the line running up to the tank. Blasted air through it again and nothing. Somewhere in the line it's either clogged off from sitting for 10 years or kinked. With that finding, I shut it down for the day lol. At 11pm....
The plan is to pull the fuel line and probably just rob the one off my rally car. Being as I'll now have stolen the fuel pump and a line, I may as well heed the advice of other rally guys and run the pump in the trunk and the lines through the cabin. kimd of a crappy way to come about it but so be it. There's already so much stuff that needs to be done on that car, what's another labor intensive add on haha.
I'm still planning to try and start this thing on Thursday dammit! I'll bust ass and get the fuel line in and system leak tested. I still have to change the oil, add coolant and check base timing. Might be a bit more work than I'm realizing but whatever. My goal before heading back to work on Friday was to try and start this thing up! Soooo close now!!! I'll throw up a couple pictures. Not much really to look at that's really different than the previous update lol. But we all love to look at pictures right? I'm gonna drink another beer or 10, take a shower and then go to bed! Oh, I'm not going to proof read this either so I apologize if it doesn't make any sense hahaha.

So where were we? Hmmmm.... I had a couple of issues with my distributor I figured out a couple of weeks ago. I'd posted up in the megasquirt thread over in the standalone forum the issues I was running into. I'd gotten lucky with the fuel line crap I was dealing with! Ended up having a half inch long obstruction RIGHT at the rubber hose connection to go back into the fuel tank. Cleaned that out and slapped the line back in and all was well. I think the FPR is sticking a little or a stuck open injector because pressure bleeds off, quite quickly at that. So I'm leaning towards the FPR. So that got resolved.
Tried starting it that same week as my last time posting and had issues with no trigger. Quadruple checked all my wiring and it was good. Took a good close look at my distributor and found this...
Junky distributor. If you look close, you can see that the red wire is bare. Being as I'm picking up power for both the hall sensor and the ecu from the same place, the only thing I could figure out is it would reset the ECU as it grounded when I cranked it. Huge THANK YOU to "DE80q" for sending me out a couple of dizzies and a cap to get this thing diagnosed! Sure as shit, plugged one of his dizzies in and got the injectors, well 4/5(reckon I have a stuck one) clickity clacked away as I spun the shaft. Sweet!! We have fuel!!!!
Got one issue sorted only to have another pop up lol. So it goes.... Got the base timing set, at least to TDC rolled it over and nothing. To be expected haha. Thought shit, I should check for spark.... Pulled a plug, grounded it and nothing. Shit. Dinked around a little bit testing this and that, then after everything checked fine, I manually triggered the ICM and "zap!" Spark! Long story short, there is a minor error in some wizardry within the ECU. Sooooo after talking with "elaw," I sent it back out to him to finish up a couple of things.
Sooooo.... Today. Being as I'm ECUless for at least a week, I had grand intentions today of working on the rally car some! I went in and buttoned up some shifter stuff that needed to be done. Aaaaaand that's it lol. I realized there is still a bunch of stuff that this black car needs and the rally car is just going to have to sit on the back burner until I get this thing running and moving under its own power. I figure get this one "done" and then focus 100% on the rally car.
My plan for a lazy day working in the shop was to get the euro light mounts made and wired. Well.... I got the mounts made lol. Lazy was an understatement! For once I was able to sleep in(9 am) AND my mother in law is in town so the kiddos were taken care of, yet I still didn't get out into the shop until noon! Ha! Anyhow, with the headlights I was kind of at a point where I HAVE to install the euro lights or else rob the lights and brackets off my rally car. The lower headlight mounts that bolt to the chassis are MIA on this car. I used the tried and true "bent steel plate" method of bracket making. A couple of "Z" brackets, one for the top and one for the bottom and we are in business! I still need to round the edges and paint them but for now, they're done lol. The pictures suck but so be it. I'll snap some decent pics when I pull them out to finish them off, may be a year but whatever....

Also got part of the dash put back together. The wiring is going to be its own couple days of sorting... Yikes!! But at least it's coming together!
And that's where I'm at now. If I'm extremely lucky, I might get the ECU back next week, but until then I figure I'll chip away at the little annoying crap that still needs to get done.
Tried starting it that same week as my last time posting and had issues with no trigger. Quadruple checked all my wiring and it was good. Took a good close look at my distributor and found this...
Junky distributor. If you look close, you can see that the red wire is bare. Being as I'm picking up power for both the hall sensor and the ecu from the same place, the only thing I could figure out is it would reset the ECU as it grounded when I cranked it. Huge THANK YOU to "DE80q" for sending me out a couple of dizzies and a cap to get this thing diagnosed! Sure as shit, plugged one of his dizzies in and got the injectors, well 4/5(reckon I have a stuck one) clickity clacked away as I spun the shaft. Sweet!! We have fuel!!!!
