I think you need to upgrade the stock suspension to something more suited to how you drive the car, before trying to upgrade the sway bars. If you want to keep the stock ride height, throw in some bilstein HDs, and see how it acts then.

Lol I'm putting suspension anything on hold
My Iat sensor reading SHOT to 150 C and settled down to 79 - 83 C quite suddenly while on a 15 minute drive... maybe I need to warm up the IAT sensor resistor sauder joints?
Thanks tho dave. I always thought it was in the # rating of the springs that would prevent roll.
EDIT: after parking and starting/driving again, the temp ranges between 60 and 130 C. I'm gonna warm the R joints shortly here...

I'm beginning to think it's this knock off sensor. Disconnecting yields a reading of -40 C and connecting reads 82 to 154 C!
Riiiight so I don't want to mess around with failing sensors any longer so I bought one locally for a exorbitant price (~$72) with a lifetime warranty. I bet the meth injection somehow kills it off more quickly. I should also mention that I cleaned the sensor and tested it again only to see the same impossible temps fed back.

Re: Julian's '91 200 20vt
anybody have any insight concerning the following picture and questions. Below is the IAT circuit section that needs modified for using the 1.8t iat sensor. My temps have gone haywire and when I attempted to reheat the sauder joints of the left 272 resistor, I ended up losing the connecton entirely and am stuck with 154 C.
Spots 1 and 3 were all warmed with the sauder gun. Are the legs of the 272's both supposed to be melted together in spot 1? In spot 2, is the leg of the JB (3 legs) component allowed to touch the 272's leg?
TIA!!!

Re: Julian's '91 200 20vt
Marc helped me with the circuit above. I went back to review my log when this all went crazy and found that the only things that changed on my ADC ALL page was that ADC raw CH1 slowly rose to 1.81 v and ADC cal. CH1 went up 100 C. That 100 C seems significant. Idk.

Re: Julian's '91 200 20vt
All is well ATM. Actually I had to pull this aluminum elbow back out after it was choking up my top end. Couldn't flow as much as the old silicone elbow (cut down stock turbo-IC hose)
Seems to flow much better. It's strange because the wall thickness is only slightly thicker than my other 2" OD pipes. ID is slightly less but OD of the Chinese-source elbow is small enough that the pipe can nearly fit INTO the other IC piping that 2". No I didn't bother measuring any of the pieces lol.
On a side note I caught up to a VW guy with a late 80s/early 90's cabriolet painted OD green or something. I slowly caught up to him and yelled, "what's up man" and he turned because he heard me. What happened next kind of caught me off gaurd. As I was smiling, he looked offended or indifferent but I kind of got the impression he thought I said, "I'll be thinking about you later when I'm alone."
Anyway, he left it at that look and I could only hear crickets so I pressed onward.
Probably from the vortex lol
So today it's 80 out and I've been mercilessly beating.... on the car

Re: Julian's '91 200 20vt
Ya idk maybe he heard me wrong lol.
I bought 6 qts of this synpower to do the trans and diffs. Made an appointment for it for Wednesday next week when I decided to try doing at least the trans myself. Got the fill and 1 drain plug loose but the one for the center diff has me nervous. I want to skip it actually bahaha! Can I ya think?
Anyway it's $65 labor back in my pocket if I do the trans like I want to tomorrow.
Chris, do you have an opinion one way or the other of that synpower? I believe I used it in the trans of the 5000 yrs ago... looks like it's similar to the redline mentioned on sjm. Also, I think I skipped the 2nd drain plug on the 5k's center diff as well
And now for a quick photo carpet bombing That's the IC with a flat black painted grill to keep birds out. This keeps people either away, or in today's case, tailgating and harassing-ly following me at an incredibly unsafe distance at 50 mph. Lastly I had this idea the other day

I like it all around 8)
On the synpower, no I don't really have an opinion. All I can say is that I've had good luck with both redline and royal purple although one or the other made the rear diff in my e46 louder than the other. I can't remember which I went with in the end though. I guess it doesn't matter if you're using that synpower stuff anyway!

Re: Julian's '91 200 20vt
Sounds good, thanks. I think what I'll do is back the car up an incline and drain it like that. Maybe down the line I'll drain it again after everything mixes up. I want to change out this crap because when I take a tight radius turn slowly (only time I do), I feel a vibration that seems related to the rear wheels and diff. Last time I attempted a rear diff I rounded out the drain plug. The resulting outboard motor filling strategy that ensued was freakin unbelievable although its still working 4 yrs later hah!
Alright so tomorrow the trans fluid change is a go

I was really sure that the so-called normal vibration quattros make on sharp slow turns was from my rear diff but now I feel like it was the center diff having old fluid.. no longer does it. Also my shift out of 2nd to N no longer sticks. VERY slight sticking sensation. All gone

Re: Julian's '91 200 20vt
Well when I saw the collection of sh#t hanging out on the magnetic drain plug I had the realization that it probably had no further magnetization left for the other still-suspended particles and new drain and dilution were my best option. Trans worked great and I actually thought the sticking of 2nd gear was due to my half-ass'd shifter bushing repair using a zip tie inside a short piece of vac hose
it's pretty funny but effective. Good thing I'm the only local that knows it's there

Actually, even reverse is more smoothly attained. Used to here a loose clatter when it engaged before. I'm afraid of the rear diff lol. I made an appointment at a garage this wednesday to have it done because when I attempted it on the 5k, I stripped out the drain plug soooo bad. I would rather have them do it. Not very DIY of me me I know haha. The garage is gonna sad when I tell them I did the trans myself even tho I have that in the appointment also

The metal shavings are pretty normal by the way. Just the product of constant metal on metal interaction. The same thing happens in your engine! (get a magnetic drain plug). Also big time in the power steering systwm and everywhere! The great thing is that agnostic particles are super easy to catch.

Re: Julian's '91 200 20vt
Oh man ya that's sorta what I figured for the trans. Although I didn't realize it would be so pronounced in there. I guess when I did the 5k I didn't think about it because there aren't magnets on those plugs. It was all out of sight in the oil. Thanks for confirming my suspicions though. The rear diff is what I'm most looking forward to having done.
EDIT
Also I've had the ECS magnetic drain plug with the large pack of crush washers for about 6 months. I don't think you can do any better with their prices and quality.
Today I had a mother inquire as to whether I'd teach her 16 y.o. daughter to drive
I had to come clean that I wasn't an instructor.
