Trust me when I say, you will need to increase the hole size for the Air Box intake. if you want enough flow for the V8.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that's part of the plan. I have 6" or so of the same 3 1/2" aluminum that I'll run through there

I got the radiator yesterday and it definitely fits - did some brief mock up and it's clear that I will need to remove the center support to create some room behind it.

Here's what I got:

I'll try to post some pics when I get home tonight.

Re: Ben's V8 Coupe Quattro - Radiator Fitment!
Got some pics and did some fitting today!
Here's the radiator sitting on the v6 ratiator support. you can see it's a great fit:

I'm going to need to mount it in front of that crosspiece to make enough room behind it.
Here it is mockedup as far forward as I can get it. with the hood latch cut out I can make it sit totally upright...

Got about 3 1/2" clearance in there.
Now to make provisions to mount it.
for us non-welders, there is aluminum epoxy - is that strong enough to use for this?

Please find someone to weld it on. If I was closer, I would do it for you. I would hate to see you go through all this work just to have the rad fall out going down the road.

Yeah. I can get my exhaust guy to do it for sure.
I'm actually about to build a garage - hopefully before winter - and I will have a place to set up a welding rig. Then I can learn!

Sweet!! +5 on welding mounting tabs to it.
Have you tried fitting headlight to make sure it all fits together still?

Not yet. The PS headlight fits inside the plastic ducting so I know that side works. I will fit them both though before I start welding things on to the radiator.

Make sure your headlights clear (mine were a tight squeeze due to them being B3). I used alumi-weld for putting tabs on mine as I didn't have my TIG yet.

Re: Ben's V8 Coupe Quattro - Radiator Fitment!
I put the headlights on today and am working to figure out how to make all this fit...

Driver's Side:

Passenger's Side:

Obviously the tabs for the headlight trim keep me from tilting the top all the way out. I'm thinking I may actually keep the radiator and cut those tabs off. I'd rather figure out another mounting method for the trim (or forego it altogether) than reduce my radiator size. Not sure what I'll do but I'm trying to figure all this out without screwing the radiator up so I can still return it if need be.
Also, I found myself in Northern Ohio for work yesterday and on the way home hit the Summit Racing store. Holy Moly, it's huge!
They let me pull the radiator I bought and a bunch of different fan solutions to see what I could end up using.
this is what I ended up with: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/bci-75680
Despite being too tall, this "should" work pretty well with my radiator. I will need to do a little trimming for the inlet hose and will also trim off either the top or bottom vents and it will fit.
here it is un-trimmed and set on top of my radiator. You can see that a little notch for the inlet cut into the shroud on the top right would make it fit width-wise...

The beauty is that it delivers 2460 CFM - 600 cfm better than the narrow single 16" fans that I've found.
since everyone that has done this job has had cooling issues I want to make sure I throw everything I can at it.

This is the issue most people have run into with radiator choice. I trimmed the support rib on the back of the tabs to make mine fit, and it looks like you could do the same if you shift your radiator over toward the PS from where it is in the photos (and cut that plastic shrouding back on the PS).

I haven't had any issues with cooling on my setup. I used pusher fans to keep as much room for airflow behind the radiator as possible and a programmable SPAL fan controller so I can control exactly when the fans come on and at what temperature they hit full speed.

I just went back and looked at your thread Kirk - I may go the pusher route if this doesn't work but I think I'm on to something.
By the way, any chance of making a duplicate snub mount to what you made? I would pay good money for one of those!

Let's talk exhaust.
My guy is thinking 2 1/4" from the manifolds to a single pipe that will hit resonator and muffler.
The question is 2 1/2" or 3" for the single pipe. What do you guys think?

The OEM exhaust for an ABH has twin 55mm pipes - the single 2.5 is more restrictive than those twin pipes - that's okay?

Re: Ben's V8 Coupe Quattro - Radiator Fitment!
The muffler is the most restrictive part of the stock system. Assuming you are using basically any aftermarket muffler, yes its more than adequate. Having both a 2.25 and 3" single systems myself, I would prefer a 2.5 if I were to do it over again.
