993TT Front Calipers

Post by Toxcheap »

Anyone have a good source for these new?
I've bought them new in the past from Crescent (299.99ea) and Bensco (329.99). Unfortunately hurricane katrina wiped out Bensco and it's gone forever from what I find. I can't stomach paying 600-800 per when I used to buy pair with shipping for that price. Thanks guys.

Have you called Sunset Porsche in Oregon? (Call for best price, don't use website) They used to have the best prices. But the last I heard there weren't many (or any at all) left in the USA (993TT or 928GTS). Might be worth a call to see if any more were coming down the pipeline.

With the prices the big red/black on the rise, you might as well just start upgrading to one of the monobloc designs (996+). Or Brembo GTP, which is supposedly the replacement caliper. I read a post from 2004 that the original big red molds were reaching end of life, so that's why they've been slowly rising up in price and becoming harder to find.

996tt are ~$600 (online). I bet Sunset will beat that.

Damn, I'll get a set for my 90. For that price I'll just re-rebuild them if need be.

$150 for 993TT calipers?... I'd be very wary based on what they generally go for. Design 911 in the UK makes their own knockoffs, bench racers say they're junk but I have yet to find someone who has actually tried them.

I did some more research they seem to be a decent manufacturer of remanufactured calipers. I'm just afraid to get standard 993 calipers. they are not in stock and special order and take a month so I am calling about returning special orders now. Sunset was 690 new each. Still more than the last pair with shipping I purchased.

I was going to say, big reds are hard to find and fetch a couple g in good shape. Anything boxster or less is junk really and not worth it imo

Neither of these are Big Reds. The bottom one is a caliper for a pre-964 911 I believe and the other I'm not sure exactly, but the mounting bosses are different than the big red. Looks like it could be a standard 993 caliper.

I would take the pics as a grain of salt, they're generally not accurate. I think someone really just needs to order some. I probably will when I get back from Battle Born.

I think you started with a bad PN, that part numbers also crosses to standard 993 calipers and has the same pics everywhere for those PN's. With a site like Summit I would take their pics with less salt than their fitment charts to be honest.

Again, big reds are really expensive, I can almost promise you're going to find them for $150 somewhere the Porsche world hasn't discovered. If you want the OE PN for big reds here's a link to the PET for the 993: http://www.porsche.com/all/media/pdf/or ... ATALOG.pdf (it's actually the euro catalog because I'm lazy but calipers should be same PN)

Doh, you're right. Those are 964 3.6 turbo calipers not 993tt.

Here's the right Cardone p/n for 993tt:
Front Left
911 Turbo, Carrera 4S
OE Metal Piston 19-1954
Front Right
911 Turbo, Carrera 4S
OE Metal Piston 19-1955

Which cross references with the 993tt p/n
PORSCHE 92835142402
PORSCHE 99335142510
BENDIX R47088
BENDIX SL47088
WAGNER CR133927
VW 993 351 425 10

Not in stock anywhere though.
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/aaz-19-1954
$65 + $50 core; out of stock
http://www.carid.com/cardone/front-rust ... AhOA8P8HAQ
Low stock, email for availability
http://www.myautopartswholesale.com/cat ... ne/19-1955
Says it ships in 3-5 days
http://www.buyautopartsonline.ca/catalo ... ne/19-1954

You can nearly make out the p/n in the Cardone picture:

The Centric p/n are still correct though.

So are these so affordable because they're remanufactured Brembo calipers with fresh parts, or Centric/Cardone knockoffs?

I imagine they're remans, I don't think they're knockoffs. My bet is that even though Summit allows you to order them, they're not available.
