Eli's 200 20v Avant, S200 R?
Re: Eli's 200 20v Avant, to billet or not to billet?
I wouldn't spend the extra money on the wheel upgrade if you already have a stock one in your hands. People have windowed blocks on stock rods with the Volvo turbo, no need to push for more if not touching the rotating assembly

Yeah, I also just found a local place to balance it so I think I'll just run it as is for now.

Didn't do the billet wheel this time around, we'll see how we do with the stock wheels. I have a motor lined up to refresh and will probably do a clutch eventually as well, probably do a billet wheel then

It's da monstah, right? I recognized the gold foil insulation.

That is indeed da monstah.
So I did this today

Such a world of difference.

Gonna have to raise it back up a little though. Have about an inch of travel in the front.
Got held up by a blown front koni. Not totally blown, but part of the travel was dead... It was weird. So I'm running some bilsteins up front for now, may see if my fronts can be rebuilt, although now I'm thinking shorter struts would be nice... Damn cars.

Yes, get them shortened! But make sure those bozos at bilstein get it right. They'll screw it up almost guaranteed lol

Has anyone gotten shortened or shorter konis for the front? I've always kind of preferred them

Looks like koni racing struts are the ticket, just gotta compare lengths. Guess I'm making some shortened housings next...

Re: Eli's 200 20v Avant, to billet or not to billet?
Well,
I found out tonight that s2 3b and 200 3b have different ecu pinouts... Used some info from s2 central to repin my connector to aby spec and the car doesn't start. Went through using my Bentley and sjm and found some differences. Now I get to go through the 3b and aan pinouts tonight and make my own spreadsheet, then figure out what all got moved to the wrong places...

Re: Eli's 200 20v Avant, AAN conversion fail...
Well, turns out someone had a 5 amp fuse instead of a 15 in s28 and it popped. And of course u didn't check it first... Moral of the story is don't do wiring projects on an empty stomach.
Car runs awesome now, no more misfire between the 2.0t coils and new bkr7e plugs.

Also picked this up, probably not going to fit it till turbo swap.

Re: Eli's 200 20v Avant, S200 R?
Finally a big update!
Picture heavy here, but...
I've replaced the clunky rear diff, got new snow tires and went to winter mode, replaced rear upper control arms, and installed my Volvo turbo/RS2 replica manifold/525cc injectors and am not on VEMS permanently.
The Volvo turbo involved a lot more customization than i anticipated, really glad I had access to torches and a TIG welder...

This wrench should come with every RS2 style manifold...

Don't judge me, first time welding cast aluminum, plus haven't TIG welded in 2 years or so...

Can't even tell...

Took about 2 inches out of the inlet where it sweeps back towards the center section. It lined up pretty well on the inside.

Boom

Still have lots of work to do, tuning and building a heat shield for the intake.
I'm waiting on some couplers, but I'll be ditching the stock intercooler this week for my treadstone one. Then it'll be power steering leaks/rack, valve cover and breather setup, then on to fixing nagging interior/nonessential problems.
Progress feels good!

That looks really good man. Just paint the intake elbow and you'll be in super stealth mode!

Re: Eli's 200 20v Avant, S200 R?
I'll paint it when I build the heat shielding I think. Need to put that filter on a bracket as well. Car is still smoking but much less, and sometimes not at all. Hopefully it's just blowing out all the blowby that was in the intercooler.
I need a solid three free days to just play with VEMS and get the car tuned. For now I'm just going to see if Marc will get me to daily driver status so I can have more time to learn as I go.

Re: Eli's 200 20v Avant, S200 R?
Little update, got the treadstone intercooler in, barely fits. Had to do a little cutting and trimming on a few things, and it tilts down to clear the secondary hood latch

Also installed a MAC valve and switched to the new style boost control, still need to map out the RefDC/rpm table more accurately but it's boosting 29 psi nicely now. Torque isn't all there though, I need to get it on the dyno.
Next stop, subframe bushings and AC retrofit.

Sometimes, seems to depend on ambient temp. Boost DC is near 100%. I actually dropped the boost back down until I can get it properly tuned on a dyno, which hopefully will happen next month.
