B5 S4 fuel pump to C4 S6?

Post by vwnut8392 »

i recently upgraded my S6 to a K24 7400 with 348cc injectors and i have been having a lean issue ever since than above 15psi. after a chat with marc he suggested that the OEM URS fuel pump is maxed out which im not doubting after reading this thread he suggested.

anyhow i was poking around in my parts stash and came across a new in box B5 S4 pump that came in a car that i parted out a while back. now this car was a stage 3 RS4 spec car with extra's on it and made around 400whp on its stock pump. it was a K04 car with 630cc injectors, 4BAR FPR and obviously the stock pump. car ran strong as an ox for years this way till its demise with a tree that lead to enough front end damage to actually bend the crank. so what im thinking is that the B5 S4 could be a suitable replacement for the URS and it may even potentially be a drop in solution on the B5's basket which i still have and pulled from the B5's tank. from the motorgeek thread above just an MTM 1+ tune can push the limitations of the stock pump and those cars dont even touch 300whp with the chips and other add on's like RS2 manifold, exhaust, intake etc. so what do you guys think about my hunch on installing the B5 S4 pump? if it can stretch the car out to 400whp it could be a good drop in replacement for someone looking to make moderate power but not enough to need an 044. i see B5 S4's getting parted out constantly so these pumps are out there in force.

You would just go and put used fuel pump in your car? If 044 is too expensive there are walbro, DeatschWerks, AEM etc, which go with minor mods to the tank.

i have a new in box bosch B5 S4 pump for my car. only reason i suggested used is if your in a pinch and need something. id rather roll the dice on a used pump to get my car going if the stock pump had failed already and i needed to get my car going again till a new one arrived. i think the B5 pump is just drop in and drive. im going to confirm this later today in my parts URS4 by attempting to fit the B5 pump into its tank.

How about just comparing the two pumps? If similar diameter, just drop in.

i ended up ordering a walbro 255 but i built a hybrid basket from the URS and B5 to make a drop in solution for the walbro.
