Short of taking it back to the bead blaster guy, what would you guys do with minor surface rust on the inside diameter of the front of the chra. It's not on the inside past the thick oring but towards the comp wheel.

Actually there's some surface rust inside the chra but not where the moving assembly lies (whew!). I'm afraid to address the first area as I'm worried about scuffing where the oring would sit and the second area I just haven't decided how crucial it is.

Light sanding (fine grit) shouldn't hurt anything. Or you could get one of those laser rust blasters.

I remembered I had krud kutter for rust removal that I had sitting around for a couple years from a failed attempt as using for body work. I let it soak all morning and it wiped out ALL the rust internally. Freakin awesome stuff when let sit awhile. I was going to sand later but no need now :D

Cookies anyone? I've since painted the remaining snout area and cooked again. Turned out ok I guess for afterthought.

Also, many of you may not know but the original "Liberator" was actually a carpet dry cleaning machine :D

I started assembly of the turbo but couldn't finish because turbo labs of America forgot to include the oil slinger and front collar. They're being nice and sending out today. Hope it arrives by weekend so this can get thrown in...

I've really got to praise turbo labs of America. They sent the 2 missing parts by 2nd day mail for $23. That's about half the price of the whole kit! Now I can build this turd :)

Ok so I finally got this menacing fu##er installed. It SOUNDS beautiful. I am not seeing a difference in lambda values tho. I really thought I'd go more lean with the switch. I like it so far.

I took the old holset out for its farewell bearing and almost took flight at a right turn yield area near a HEAVILY congested intersection. It was freakin awesome! And yes, I was the only one in danger lol. The other cars were well away from me and nobody was in my area so I just tore it up at 27 psi.

About 5 mins later I get a text from my college car enthusiast buddy who lives out of state. His mother knows my car sort of, saw the huge turbo recently and called it a sleeper a weekend prior. She asked him if it was me screaming down the road in a black car earlier. She said it was crazy lol.

An hour later I'm ripping out the turbo and she texts him again saying "I think they're looking for him cuz there's a speed trap and lots of cops lol."

So I went back up in the car and asked the police who they were looking for in person like an inquisitive ass bahaahha! No I'm kidding but also easily amused :D

Just thought I'd share :)
(Also I made that very detailed story up :hide: )

Thanks mister :) I'm just glad that the only person looking at this thread isn't myself. Sometimes it's nice to follow a car's "saga" but in this case I've diluted the videos and pics with 57 pages of words haha. It just needs sifted through

There is something quite strange I feel I should mention about the reassembly of the new turbo. I etched everything with a line for the alignment but the 6 pt nut was one face off from being aligned at 133 lb-in. I figured it must be the new parts were thicker in some area but I really can't say. The torque was specified directly from Holset's pdf too :idunno:

Damn I only just realized from my log yesterday that the car was regularly doing 230 kpa. Didn't actually look it up to find its only 19 psi! Felt quick for that pressure tho. Going up? Yesss

Sealed this extenally in case I need to remove in near future. Supposedly helps spooling?

I was seeing lots of "perspiration" marks I guess it was. Looked like it was bleeding through from the seam. Hopefully it was worse than that and the effort to silicone pays off more

I'm getting this very annoying deep creaking noise from both rear wheels when the suspension is moved. Ooyy! Ridiculous. Also appears that nothing can be accessed from the trunk where everything is affixed to the body :( I've tried spraying the bushings with WD one at a time with no relief. Next I suppose I'll spray the tops of the struts just to "see"

Loving this holset and it's music :)
