90q IMSA GTO (wanna-be) build
Re: 90q IMSA GTO (wanna-be) build
Cool, thanks...Will have to check with 034 to see if they'll let me use one for a test fit.

Remembered seeing some pics in Jim and Darins build links regarding this possible issue and thought to verify with y'all.
I test fit the wheel/tires package I'll be running on the car...255/40/17. Would this be too tight a fit at the rear arches? If so, what's best way to gain a bit more space in the important areas?

I moved mine back a good amount, by using both offset subframe mounts and billet control arms. You will have a tough time getting flares over that without rubbing.

Thanks
Rs2 lights should fix it

Check out my lifted coupe thread- I used a set of front control arms + swapped the ball joints left to right to center the wheel in the arch. Works great, just required slightly shorter rear tie rods. It's a lot cheaper than billet control arms and offset subframe mounts too.

Went through your thread...Nice work! Looks totally do-able. So to clarify...Use the forged or stamped front control arms...or either would suffice? The front control arms that came with my car are of forged variety and rears are stamped.

Drain the oil and see if there is water in there. May be a headgasket. Are you using one of their copper ones for 83mm bore or a normal AAN?
It may just be water vapor collecting right there, that's what the inside of your catch can should look like. If you have just been running the motor fro short periods of time, it will build up a lot of condensation. Get it nice and hot up to temp for a while and see if it goes away.

Will have to double check with them, but from what I can see it looks like the MLS gasket. I know for sure it was a Copper layered gasket before the 2nd rebuild as I installed it.

How long did the car sit before checking under the oil cap and seeing that milkshake? I've seen condensation on the head emulsify like that after only a couple of days of sitting. If there are no other signs of failure elsewhere, I'd think its that. You should see some milky clumpy horrors that come out of catch cans in humid climates. Oil vapor and water vapor arent friendly.

I wanna say it was 2 weeks from the time I last fired it up and saw the goo. I also reached out to Javad and co and 034 and he wrote almost exact same explanation as you. I'll be firing it up this weekend and do some laps around the neighborhood to work this out.
Correct, Dave every time a motor starts the air inside it becomes hot quickly, however the block remains cool until the engine comes up to temp. During this time water condenses on the inside surfaces of the block (like it does on a glass of ice water) and gets in the oil.
The conventional wisdom about always warming up your engine and never doing lots of small short drives is for this very reason, if engine oil is never brought to temp, above 220F so the water can boil off, the oil pan can actually fill with water over time.
What you are seeing is an emulsion of oil and water, above 220F the water will burn off and leave the oil. Try to get the motor up to temp and drive it if you can, or minimize the short running times as much as you can.
If you're concerned draining the oil and replacing it will solve it for the moment.
Thanks!

I saw the same thing with the URQ before getting it back on the road, just condensation building up from not getting the oil hot enough.
I live in an area that has crazy high humidity in the summer, you should see what comes out of my catch can haha.

Thanks
On the advice of 034, I trimmed off as much as possible (approx 5 mm) before there's not enough room at the inside angle for the hose clamp to properly seat...Helped a bit, but still contacts headlight connector.
Question to you all...If a 3.0 inch metal tube was to used with couplers at the inlet and MAF ends, how far would be too far to mandrel bend it coming out of the inlet to clear back of housing then add another bend at MAF end?
120˚ from inlet, then 90˚ to MAF? Would this be too disruptive to airflow??

I have to imagine that it would be fine. Upstream of the MAF is the important part.

...More test fitting progress
Running into a bit of a clearance fubar between front of IC and inside center grills of S2 bumper
On a positive note, The B4 wings mount right up and leading edge and will match up beautifully to the bumper once fubar is resolved!

'Project Setback' strikes again!
Finally got the B4 front wings + S2 bumper + GTO bonnet all lined up and mounted. Fired 'er up and took 'er out for a few laps...then I see what looked like water pouring out of the engine compartment front left corner.
Another power steering pump took a dump...What is it with these damn things!?! This is the second new pump I've had in this car since the original was removed when this project started in Aug 2011.
