I'm doing similar, but in a B5 A4 quattro, with 4,2L S8 motor from the onset.
What pistons are you running to drop compression in your ABZ?

I avoid Summit AN stuff if at all possible. Some of the AN fittings I've had had sloppy tolerances, and would strip out very easily. All my stuff is Earl's, with a couple Aeroquip pieces thrown in.a4kquattro wrote:summit. I'm a little ticked.RSCoupe wrote::stupid:
What brand s.s. lines are they? They should not rot out in only a couple years, especially not when used for coolant.
If you're going to order a lot of stuff, and can wait a few extra days for shipping compared to Summit, it pays to go here:

I've probably saved a couple hundred dollars by going there...

Its an ABH with stock internals, replacing a PT with stock internals. Stacked headgaskets to drop CR.siena wrote:Good going, Marc.

Show us ya thread on that S8 into .......
so no go on the coupe. got everything all done and leak free (after much f'ing around) and then the car shredded the alternator belt... Thats happened before so its clearly a design issue I need to revisit.. just not something I want to deal with on a multi-hundred mile two week road trip. So the S6 got some love in the form of a new drivers front CV boot, now packing up, gotta head out the door at 7 tomorrow..

70 pages, wow.
so I worked on my serpentine tensioner modifications a bit yesterday. Decided I should be able to modify the stock tensioner to do what I want.
here is where I'm at so far:
the basic idea here is that an idler roller gets bolted to where the tensioner shock used to go, and that will press on the back side of the belt that will be going directly between the crank pulley and the alternator. I have removed the giant spring from the back side of the TB cover behind the stock adjuster nut. I then drilled two holes that mark the outer extremes of where the 'slot' needs to be milled that will be used to clamp down the adjuster once it is rotated to the tensioned position. Now to go use Haydn's mill to take care of that part...

might do a drag run or two :-D
Update: car is running but not so much driving. The shift linkage is all whacked out for some reason, which must have happened when I put the new motor in pushing things out of alignment.
All of my stuff is now moved over to my new house so at least everything is in one spot.. coupe is nestled in the lift bay for fixing up the linkage and installing a few remaining details (headlights, some trim, etc). Need to do a bit of road tuning before taking it down the 1/4 mile but should be ready to roll by Friday :woowoo:

he'll smoke me as I will need some fuel system updates before I can take full advantage of the new motor.my2000apb wrote:race vs janis?
We've raced before, I killed him off the line but then he took over at half track thanks to suck ass 3.6 cams (no power over 5500 rpm, turbos or no turbos)

need to run new fuel lines and fabricate fuel rails. still running stock coupe fuel lines and stock v8 fuel rails which are pretty restrictive. I was getting pressure drop @ 440whp, so...
as far as cams go, the 4.2 cams are night and day difference vs the 3.6 cams. I'll be running the stock 4.2 cams.

think youll have the new fueling done soemtime this summer? that thing has a lot more in it even on stock bottom end

hard to say, I just moved so all of my time lately has been going into putting things away and 'house stuff'. I have the fuel rails already fabricated so probably...
