Alternator Ground

I was looking at getting my power as clean and good to the battery as possible on my 92 UrS4 and was thinking of putting a ground on the alternator per quite a few articles I read.


This shows 2 terminals at the back of the alternator. I know the larger one is for power, is the smaller terminal for a ground or does anyone have any better ideas for this?

So then I'd assume to ground the alternator I would need to run it from one of the mounts?

Doesn't it ground out on a common chassis ground, driver's side on the front of the car?

I imagine it does but I found that with my UrS it needed a little help. Example, I have the 2.0T coils installed before I bought the car and was grounded to the valve cover. I ran a ground from that bolt and the car ran better and I noticed an additional .4 volts (running 13.8 volts at the battery now). So I assume that the grounds aren't in the best condition and I want to get another ground around the alternator to make sure the power is as good as can be.

A week ago I melted a fused distribution block when I cranked up my Fosgate T600-4 amp on the way home from work. So I am devoting some time working on making sure that the power is good bumper to bumper.
