Phil's 20vt 5ktq, "TurdQuat" blown up RaceCor
Re: Phil's 20vt 5ktq, Donuts are delicious.
Lets talk drivetrain shit.
So this thing needs a clutch.
Do I spend the money on an 016 clutch? Or go 01e and invest in all that is required to do the 01e.
Lets compare here
016 Clutch kits are easily the most expensive compared to AAN and 7A kits.
But I could just pull the trans, throw a clutch in, and bolt it back up.
OR. I could purchase a 7a kit and find an 01e and throw that in. All said and done it's going to be more expensive, but the 01e was in the plans at some point anyways, and that will save money in the long run.
I have a SB AAN kit from my roommate that he had leftover, but I'd need to run a dual mass FW with that, and I mean come on, fuck that.
I think I know the answer to these questions, I guess I'm just looking for somebody else to say: "yeah that's a good idea you blabbering idiot."

Re: Phil's 20vt 5ktq, clutches and trannies oh my.
Sucks that the 01e is considered an upgrade. Shifts suck and it's not that strong or cheap. The edu ratios aren't fun with an I5 either
Re: Phil's 20vt 5ktq, clutches and trannies oh my.
With the power you're running I'd say go 01E. Only reason to keep the 016 wold be if you were wanting to keep the open center/ Locker setup for some reason (Rally being the only reason I can think you would). For a 300+ WHP track car, I'd go 01E while you have it out.

I can't really comment on strength but honestly the shifting is at best the same as an 016 and at worst... worse.

The locker 016 that was in it shifted really really smoothly
The torsen 016 I put in is a little more notchy, really could use a good fluid change.
Not a fan of the 01e's I've driven, but there's really not many options to choose from.

01e's do seem really notchy. I think part of it is the way they are shifted in the big chassis cars with the linkage coming off the top of the shifter. I am hoping that they will shift better when adapted to a small chassis rs2ish setup.
Ive noticed subies shift similar and they have a similar linkage at the shifter end.

Re: Phil's 20vt 5ktq, clutches and trannies oh my.
Have done more stuff to this thing in the past 3 weeks than I have all year.
workin on some fun things in the rear like bushings and brakes. I hate bushings.
I also hate how many bushings the rear of the T44 has.
Gettin BBQ Ready, woot woot,
Also ordered a fun whooshy thing that makes horsepowers, but that probably won't be ready by BBQ.

Re: Phil's 20vt 5ktq, clutches and trannies oh my.
Some dumb fuzzy phone pictures.
Gotta order some V8 rear rotors because these brakes are 20020v rear brakes which fit onto 5ktq hubs, but not v8 hubs. Offset of Rotor is different from V8 and 200 it appears. V8 is same stuff as Urs4 from everything I've researched and what ETKA tells me.
Ugh more money to spend

Re: Phil's 20vt 5ktq, gettin BBQ ready
Nice, you get those knuckle bushes fitted? Or at least that one that didn't fit? No more ttrs turbo?
Re: Phil's 20vt 5ktq, gettin BBQ ready
Nah, I showed Albert the size of these ones that I was sent and then had him send me correct dimensions and they're about 4mm off like I thought. He originally sent me the wrong ones, he's now sending the correct sizes. Depending on when they get here I might take the hubs back off to fit them, but I wanted to get them on there to make sure everything fits right. And fitting them today made me realized I have the wrong rear discs, so it was a good idea to put them on there.
Also have some 48mm bushings for the front bracket, trap, arm, thing. What do you even call it? the circled thing in the attached picture. Urs4/20020v is 48mm. 5k/90v8 is 44mm. When I ordered these back in January he only had the 48mm kit.
So if anybody with a 20020v/urs4 wants some, I gots some.
And yeah, goin bigger. Will post when it comes in.
Like I was saying with a buddy of mine, it's kine of like getting the carriage before the horse.
it's like getting the wheel for the carriage, before getting the carriage and horse...
Need many things before turbo swap, but I mean, it was a steal.

Re: Phil's 20vt 5ktq, gettin BBQ ready
Glad you got it figured out. I could use those bushes but I've got an 10 day old son so no money or time for car work ATM. She still runs and gets beat on whenever I get the chance though! Hasn't had a bath or oil change for a year

Would it be against the rules for you to share your LC settings por favor? That was badass! I've lost confidence in my settings after the engine failure :(

The holset takes forever to spool for LC but these are the settings from efiexpress.com's help section

You should be able to get it spooling fast with lc. You don't want to limit that number on a big turbo like that. Just let it build boost.

Cool thanks. All else will stay same then
My lambda during LC always had me perplexed. Apparently stoichiometric is safe at full LC boost levels?

Afr readings don't really apply during lc because of the inefficiency of the combustion events and all the excess fuel. Trust me, being lean is the last thing you need to worry about during lc. That's definitely not happening! Doesn't mean it doesn't get hot though.

I run meth injection during LC all the time because I'm worried about cylinder temps. Thanks for the explanation man

If you change the control range from 300 to like 100, it will be louder and more badasserer
if you change it to 20, it's like gun shots.
Mine is at 20
So just some food for thought.
