C4 audi s4 help (shifter problems)

Hey guys,
I put a fidanza flywheel and southbend clutch in a c4 audi s4, im new to audis in general and am having a few small problwms i cant rectify, if your bot familiar with the chassis off of the shifter is 2 rods one attaches to trans case and other one actually ahifts the gears. It sits on a ball and its a cup so it only clicks together. My problem is a i cant find neutral by manually shifting the trans, and my second problem is when i hook up the shifter it doesnt move and if i try to move it it just pops off of the ball it sits on. Any help is appreciated

Hey guys anyone ever run into this? Also i cannot get the clutch to bleed at all, ive tried manually bleeding with the pedal and a vacuum bleeder. Neither have even got fluid to leave the slave cylinder

I had a successful bled on mine after 5 years by using the pressure bleeder(Motive or Sealey tools).
vacuum bleeder didn't work out atleast on my car.I used 4-5l of brake fluid to make sure all the airlock
is out.the clutch pedal became hundred times firmer and feel the disengaged of the clutch after
the first inch from top pedal.

Well i finally got the clutch to bleed, now i have shifter problems, when i install the linkage to the trans and the shifter its really stiff and when you try to move it, it just pops the linkage off the trans. The linkage cup on the linkage it aelf has a crack in the retaining clip but im not sure if its enough to make it pop off.

The car got a fidanza flywheel and a southbend stage 3 clutch

Did the car shift before you dropped the trans and did work?
Can you shift the trans with linkage removed using the little arm with the ball on the end?
What trans is it? Original?

Well pressure plate was broken in 4 places across friction surface i had to turn car off ahove it in first then start car for it to move, never shifted to 2nd etc
Its a 94 s4 trans i think its the 6 speed o1e trans. Ive gotten it a little better i can hook it all up and shift into 2, 4 and 6. But now when i try 1 3 or 5 it pops off the gear selector, i cant select every gear from the little selector.

If the ball and socket are worn it will pop off if you use too much force. You need to be able to shift it by hand at the lever on the trans

Update: i believe i have internal problems, i can put it into 2 4 5 no 1st 3rd or reverse, the trans is the 5 speed not the 6 speed
