Casey's A3 3.2 quattro

Post by WOMBAT »

Aaaaaand I'm back! After squishing the Honda Element from someone turning left in front of me

Image

and attempting to learn how to love the Mini with months of one on one driving but not getting too far

Image

I have landed my new old Audi. I can say old right? Seems wrong, but it is 10 years old as a 2007.

From the ad:

I've been catching up on some maintenance, wheel bearings and pcv (8hrs labor for a $24 part

Image

Image

And I'm now enjoying it for my first week of commuting! This is my first 2-pedal car and so far I'm enjoying the DSG. This power train makes for some epic power slides in the snow! Very happy to still have a real hand brake!

Already have some fun parts but need to sell me Mini!

Glad to see you back in an Audi!

I've driven and raced Dave Molnar's A3 and it's pretty quick for what it is and a blast in the snow. It's amazing how much power DSG-fast shifts can make up for!

You should look into a Haldex controller. Had one for the wife's 2008 R32. It was switchable, with 3 settings. Stock, sport and race. Race made the front and rear 50/50, verses the stock when the rear is only when needed.

Some maintenance and some fun stuff!

The A3 had an exhaust leak when I picked it up and I tracked it to one of the flex pipes, so I replaced both.

The offending flex pipe

Replaced and now the car is practically silent... a damn shame for a VR6, but that will have to wait. At least it's safe to sit in while it's idling now.

Also installed my first big boy coilovers, KW V1's. I get it now. Man I love a proper ride. Also installed my Craigslist sourced Karthoum wheels. Really loving the whole package right now!
