Andy's 91' 80q
I purchased the car back in about 2004-2005 in south central PA somewhere. It ran poorly due to a seizing alternator if i can remember correctly. i pulled the engine and transmission and did some prep work and then there it sat until now. I was finally able to get it shipped to south Florida where I live now.
I already started pulling the 20v engine harness. An ABY harness will take its place. The 034 JHM short throw shifter is in. Along with a 2B RS2 "bent" tie rod. So far that's all that's been done on the chassis.
I have a modified AAN engine and 01E DSY 6 speed ready to go in it too. The AAN engine has a Wagner Tuning short path intake and sportq EVO exhaust manifolds. Along with many other various parts I found along the way. The 01E has B5 A4 rear axle cups that have been modified to fit the front axles in the 80. Upgraded early style shifter rods from JHM with a stiffer centering spring. I also had RS2 transmission mount arms a B4 subframe and a 4kq prop shaft. That's it so far. Pictures soon to come!

Nice to see this finally making some headway! What is the fluid line on the 01E for? I have a couple of them around, and haven't seen that yet. Also, I thought the bent tie rod was only needed for the 20vt swap.

The fluid line is in place of a cooler I think. I just bypassed it by running a -6. The tie rod is for bigger down pipe clearance so they say. But I’m gonna find out. I’m getting a 01E rear mount from AK Motorsports soon. Let’s see how big of a task it will be to install. Anyone ever seen this?

Re: Andy's 91' 80q
damn, the car and engine seem to defy gravity.
I am doing a very similar setup in my URQ but the intake manifold is a different brand.
I am trying to figure out which bracket to use to hold the power steering pump, looks like I am going to have to customize something . It appears thats what you did ? Is that a custom bracket you made?
Looks like a good project, and that's a hell of a parts list so far. Look forward to seeing it.

Thank you! I had to make a bracket to hold the factory 80q power steering pump where I wanted it. The brace on the back of the transmission is made by AK Motorsports that is designed to eliminate the factory transmission mounts to run a bigger exhaust but I’m using it in conjunction with them to make it even stronger. We will see soon enough. Thats about next on my list.

Anyone know what the green connector is for under the drivers dash? The right side of the connector goes through the firewall in its own rubber grommet where I cut and tapped up the wires in the engine compartment about a decade ago when I was drinking. I think it’s air conditioning but I’m not %100 sure. It may be airbag but I thought those were mandated yellow

Definitely a/c. No connections thru the fire wall for any electrical components of the airbag system.
BTW, will the AKMS transmission mount allow you to delete the snub mount on the front of the engine?

Awesome! Thank u! I’m not so sure about deleting the snubber mount with the AKMS mount but that would be awesome actually. Good thought! I already have been emailing the guy. I will ask them what they think. But if I could imagine the directional forces involved there might be a good chance that it would be worth a try

Merry Christmas . Look forward to hearing what you find out on that. I’ve been looking at some of the AKMS stuff and was thinking about getting those engine mounts. Deleting the snub mount would be nice but I always thought it must be important to have up there .

Any idea what happens when u take the 6 bolts off the back of an 01E? It appears to be spring loaded.

Got it. At least temporarily until I can get my hands on the right bolts
