got the intake mani mostly done, just need to tap the throttle body adapter plate and that'll be going off to the welder this week. ill try and snap some pics of the baseplate welded to the runners as well before it all gets welded up, when i was there the other day it was done on the inside but he was waiting for the plenum to get there so he could weld that to the baseplate and then weld the outside of the runners to the baseplate. it looks freakin sweet, theres just no other words to describe it really...lol, pics...

You mean something more along the lines of those baller pieces that you make?

If so, just curious cause I don't know...why would a setup like the ones that you have shown me be more beneficial then what I have above?

so kinda like maybe if i were to make the two smaller pieces with a bend to them like i did with the two larger pieces? thats the only thing that i can really think of at the moment...

i was pretty much just attempting to do something like these here...

Yo, Johnny....

your rings are done. PM me an address so i can send them out. i did not get a chance to check them on a strut as i have none here. so you may have just slight clearancing to do with them. i will send a thing to help you with. but please keep in mind this is all hand made, with a drill and some hole saws. a grinder or two to clean it up. all i got for a machine shop. what more can you ask for?

and yes, i work outside in the snow..... its peaceful.

Just got the intake mani back from welding, and i think it came out good. pretty much the exact way that i pictured it....aside from the fact that its not powder-coated yet. :-D

started to get busy shaving the bay today. i am by no means a body man, but i dont think the bondo/sand job came out half bad for a first timer. :-D i cut plates out of 16 gauge sheet metal and tacked them where i wanted...then ground the welds down....then put the body filler on. also this has only been sanded with 40-80 grit paper, so its def not finished the product.

started on my fuel tank sump this afternoon, and got pretty much done with it. cut the tank up pretty good, more then i needed to really, but thats ok...it all worked out. im going to have two -10 fittings welded to the sump which the two bosch 044 fuel pumps will suck from, they will be locater underneath the car, in the stock fuel pump/filter cradle. i will also drill a hole in the floor to run the lines to the pumps(which is a no brainer)...Im also contemplating, since i have such a large hole in the tank already, making some baffles out of the sheet metal with one way doors at the bottom perhaps so that the fuel doesnt slosh around so much, but we'll see. main thing is that the sump is in the rear rear of the tank, and at the lowest point so the pumps wont suck dry hopefully.

pics....yes that is green painters tape. i have a dinky little hi/low wire feed mig and i didnt attempt to tack it all up cause id just burn through it most likely.

im also thinking ill need to set something up inside the tank itself so that fuel doesnt slosh around on corners and cause the pumps to suck air.

so since this is my first attempt at body work, ever, period....i just wanted to spray some primer on a small section of the bay that im pretty much finished with as far as welding the holes/bondo-ing/sanding goes, juuuust to see how my work is turning out. it looks cool up in my head, i just wanted to see if i am able to accomplish it with my two hands. opinions are very welcome...

this was prior to spraying any primer
Image

i then sprayed a coat of filler primer over the bondo-ed...which i neglected to take pics of...
then sanded a bit, and sprayed some self etching primer over everything....

Image
Image
Image

once again, this isnt final by any means...i just wanted to spray a small area just to see how its going to turn out.

first some pics of the dried primer....

Image
Image

the worst place ive had to shave so far. period. there were a bunch of holes close together there at one point in time, welded some sheet metal behind them and this is the second coat of bondo curing...
Image
Image

as far as paint, im thinking the bay will be painted black, so i may just go with POR15 due to the fact that i can apply it with a brush and it comes out smooth as butter, i havent made a final decision yet though.

onto the custom coilovers. big thanks to Aaron (speeding-g60) for the coilover sleeve rings, which make this all possible. strut housings look disgusting, theyll be media blasted and powdercoated once the rings are welded in place next week. pics....
