Marc's 1983 Ur Quattro 07k build
Re: Marc's 1983 Ur Quattro 07k build
Awesome Marc! Cant wait to see how this comes along. CanBus in a UrQ... love it!
Re: Marc's 1983 Ur Quattro 07k build
2019 will be the year of the urq. or mine anyway.
This car will be running and driving by the end of the year. on 07k power.
So, to get my mojo moving I started playing with oil pan ideas. to "get r' done" I think I'm going to attempt to modify the stock pan to fit the subframe. I did some testing today and I think this is possible. still a lot of work, but possible.
first go at the clearance needed:

the idea here is to reconstruct a new flange in an offset location from factory, weld up aluminum to the clearanced areas, and modify the stock lower pan with a new larger sump area forward of the subframe. May work. may not, but I want to give it a go. I'll be running an accusump for insurance as well.

Hell yeah .
I was wondering if those pans could be welded on. You maybe could do a bake out on it first then tig it . Or worst case ditch the lower pan , machine everything but the flanges and weld your own skin on.
This “appears” to be a modified stock one .
