FS 1995 B4 90 Quattro Sport - Sold

Post by scubadave »

UPDATED.............T-BELT HAS BEEN DONE AND THE A/C HAS BEEN FIXED AND IS NOW FROSTY. THE PRICE HAS BEEN UPDATED TO REFLECT TIME AND MONEY SPENT.

OK, I have made a decision to sell my 90 as my brother has moved out of state. A few months ago I helped him find a B6 A4 Ultrasport, and since he does not trust anybody else to work on his car, has sold it to me. Sooooo, this gem is up for sale as of now.
1995 90 Quattro Sport/ 225k mi

This car was my daily driver for quite a while. Its reliable and in great shape for being 20 years old. If you can find a better example for less money, call me out on it!

These are a few things that have been done recently

Replaced windshield with new Audi Glass which was only what was available.
Replaced heater core

These are the upgrades/changes that have been made, some by me, some already done;

Retrofit 1990 200 5spd 016 for a taller 4th and 5th gear. gained about 7-800 RPM and more strength.
Converted to 5 lug for better wheel options. URS4 front hubs with real S2 rotors, and A4 rear suspension.
Running with 91 200 20v wheels and currently snow tires
Converted steering wheel to 3 spoke a4 wheel.
Running KONI adjustables on all 4 corners.
Stebro exhaust

This car is in great shape and has very few needs.
This car needs to be sold, so I'm Open to offers. Its worth it.

New in box Vems econoseal. $850
2001 40v 4.2L V8 w/wiring harness 56K $800

I've no problem with that, as long as the potential new owner does not want it.

However, will shipping be cost prohibitive for you?

I've no problem with that, as long as the potential new owner does not want it. I was hoping to gain an unblemished B4 hood to replace the one on my coupe. My virtually perfect one on this car would be ideal.

However, will shipping be cost prohibitive for you?

i will convince the new owner not to want it!!!

and will give them lots of rides in the vrt cq!!!!

but in allseriousness, ill take it! shipping will not be cheap but it is worth it

we ship about ~10million lbs via fedex every year, so we get a pretty good deal

LMK what you need me to do

As Alex pointed out, there is a minor flaw on the drivers edge in the weave on my hood. Although, thats about it. I can get a pics of the whole hood if you want. But, remember this thread is about my car, not the hood.

As I think about it, it would still be nice to use raw if you felt like putting a strip of wrap down each edge, it would cover the flaw.

Sorry, I guess that kinda came out wrong, didn't mean to imply you would hide anything.

Dave, do you think that a 2.5 TDI would fit in the bay? Like I have so often heard from the crowd......seems ashamed to swap the TDI into FWD. The only down side is that your buddy Blaine wouldn't like that I had found an AWD home for the TDI. :)

If it's no longer than a regular I5, then yeah. You will likely have to retro the side mount radiator as the B4 is front mounted. This is all a cake walk for you though. I'd say talk to hank about measurments, and let me know when you want it delivered. I could always make an excuse to run down there, however I have ACL surgery on the 3rd so maybe let me know soon. I'm taking ownership of my brothers car either tomorrow or saturday, and have a girl in mind I want to help me shuffle these cars around. :D

Yea Martin did one with a v6 90 and ever since I have thought that would be a great car and recipient for a TDI swap. AWD, four doors, modern enough to feel solid, good looking, and 30 to 40mpg pretty easily. I know they will fit.....just a matter of money and time.

The interior is cloth-like. The seats anyway. They are made of some kind of blend I don't know of. They aren't fuzzy, more like a resistant to dirt/junk kind of material. For the most part the interior is in great shape.

Airbag light is on, but after 20 years, the wiring has developed too much resistance to keep the module happy.

The CEL comes on after driving for a little bit but will never cause a drivability problem. I have been hunting down this issue for years without luck and I'm at my wits end. So far I have tried 2 other ecu's, tps, 3 different maf's, a new ect sensor, new 02 sensors, checked for vac leaks with a smoke machine multiple times. That's Why I have an econoseal vems at the ready, and was going to build a pony harness to switch to it and keep the oem harness intact. It always passes I/M tests, so I've not been too freaked out about it. Its just annoying.

The A/C does not hold a charge for more than 2 days. It didn't get so hot up here I couldn't be happy with 2 65 Poor man's air, so I put it off. I did just pull a compressor from a JY recently, and I think that may be where the leak is. I spent lots of time hunting that issue down without much luck using all the latest shop tools at the time. Of course the other compressor will be included. However, if you decide to convert this to an I5 tdi, you will have to build your own system anyway. So it may be moot at this point, right?

I forgot to mention I just replaced the heater core, so that's new, and working great.

The paint is in great shape for being original and 20 yrs old. Still shines up nicely, but shows a few scratches here and there. Not bad at all for its age. On a scale from 1 to 10 I would give the paint an 8.5. Hood has couple dings in it, but not terrible.

Incidentally, it actually has a pedigree. This car took first place in H stock in the SCCA nationals back in the early 2000's. Can't remember what year exactly, but it's the truth. If anybody can look up the stats, I can prove it with the guys name.

It really has been a good car for me. Its been pretty reliable.

I believe the cloth is wool jacquard fabric (unique to the sport) .

What else was unique to the sport? Suspension? Brakes? 7A I5? What made it a sport?

John, here is part of a thread I found on Audiworld that may explain it better than I can...

Quote

...I mean if you two know the CQs equipment/option codes as well as I know the B4s you should be more than qualified (either of you).

When I got my quattro sport in '04 I was curious as to what made it what it a "sport". At first it seemed like it was all just thrown together - but it wasn't. '95 was an odd year as the B5s were already being introduced in Europe, as Mance said they were trying to dump B4 parts which could explain for how they were put together.

A '95 sport VIN could either have NO sport equipment or be fully loaded with power/sport leather, auto climate control, aux. gauges, sport wheels & suspension.

If you had an alpine while/casablanca white/laser red/brilliant black '95 90 quattro with sport equipment chances are it was a non-sport VIN. If it was one of those colors it had body colored side moldings ala S2/80 Competition sedan (which those moldings to this day to not show up in US ETKA). Very early '95s (mostly those with the '90-'94 style airbag) had leather and auto climate control, after that they all seemed to have jacquard satin/manual climate controls. All that I've seen to this day have aux. gauges (this is all only on sports with the body colored side moldings). And of course, all had the 5-spoke sport alloys and 1BE suspension.

If you had any color but the above mentioned you got the stock black rubber trim.

As I said yesterday, spoilers in '95 were optional. Some had the OE 2-post aluminum spoiler; dealers were installing the fiberglass 4-post spoilers.

Casablanca white was a late '95 color (that was actually introduced on the B5s in Europe).

Quattro script rear glass is extremely rare in the B4s...why mine had it, I have no clue, but it did. That's the only real randomness to it all.

Lastly, I can confirm these non-sport VIN/90 quattro sports as they pop up online all the time - same packages of equipment. As a matter of fact Lincoln (B2119) has a black '95 90 quattro sport equipped the same as my '95 was sans spoiler and q-script glass. Reggie's daughter's 90 is the same as Lincoln's.

And as far as option code stickers being the tell-tale sign - they might show that you have sport wheels, sport suspension, sport seats, but I've never seen a code (at least on '95s) for aux. gauges, q-script glass, body colored side moldings, etc.

For instance here's my '95s option code sticker:

VEHICLE-IDENT-NO.:WAUCA88C7SA075xxx
