VEMS with no cam sync on AAN?

Post by vwnut8392 »

is it possible to configure VEMS on just a 60-2 crank sensor only on an AAN engine? i broke my AAN cam gear because im a retard but i still have a 7A cam gear so my plan was to remove the cam sensor for now, install the 7A cam gear just to see if my car will even start and run. all im looking to do is just hear the car make some noise and make sure that when the cam gear broke it didnt hurt anything else, im not even going to take it off the jack stands. so is there a way to configure it for a batch fire mode?

supposedly there is a way to set it up as a 10 cylinder but I tried it and it didn't work for me.

what does work is to ground out the cam signal, you'll have a 50% shot of the car starting depending on the rest position of the engine if everything else is working properly.

I was going to reply to your other post but looks like you deleted it regarding triggers that happen with the sensor plugged in. most likely grounding issues. with primary VR, even small amounts of noise can cause zero-cross events which look like triggers to the ecu.

thanks marc. yes it was a grounding issue in my jumper harness that caused the VR crank sensor to go all nuts. i found the issue and corrected it so i figured the post wasnt necessary anymore. anyhow, with your info on no cam sync i'll give it a shot and see if it will run but i have to replace intake valves again from the cam gear failure :bangshead:. honestly i've lost all motivation with this stupid car after this cam gear breaking again and now having to put valves in it again. maybe once the new valves get here i'll be motivated to work on it again. i really want the tommis billet cam gear from you but i cant afford it right now, i have the crank gear from you already and i ordered a gates racing kevlar timing belt for it last week. i want the timing assembly to be grenade proof so i never have to worry about it again. oh well time to save up money for cam gear i guess and get that on the car next.
