Crankshaft 034105021G

Post by dougkehl »

Quick question for anyone who may know regarding the short stroke 77.4mm crankshaft Audi had in the 2.0l 5 cylinders. Does anyone know for certain if the 77.4mm stroke crank, part number 034105021G is cast or forged?

I'm considering buying one for the de-stroked AAN I'm building instead of going with a custom billet crank from Jeff Gerner because of cost, but I'm not sure I want to bother if it's not forged because I'm not sure how a cast crank would handle 9000+rpm with boost dumped on top of that.

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

The images I've seen look like a casting. Very thin parting line.

Thank you, that verifies what I determined as well from looking initially. I figured a second opinion or someone with knowledge on these would help me decide on what crank to use.
