993TT caliper interchange?

Post by amd is the best »

So my B5 has the ECS tuning stage 3 front brakes and these things were junk right out of the box. Either way, they are now leaking as well and I'm interested in a replacement. I know that they can be rebuilt however this is also a great excuse to pull the trigger on something authentic.

That being said, does anyone know if there is a replacement for 993TT calipers? Turns out they are discontinued through Porsche. Are there Brembo's or any other quality caliper that will be identical dimensionaly to the 993's?

That, or does anyone have some 993tt's for sale?

Worst case scenario, back to stock HP2's...

Something authentic? ECS supplies authentic Brembo calipers with their kits as far as I know...at least with the C4 kits they do.

If you do need new calipers I'd get good used ones from a Porsche dismantler.

You'll notice in this kit: http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B5_S4--2. ... /ES517843/ they don't even post a photo of the calipers. Then in the header image here seen here: http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B5_S4--2. ... S_Stage_3/ the caliper just says ECU tuning on it. It's a cheap knock-off 993 caliper. In the begining, ECS sold these kits with the real Porsche caliper. Literally JUST before I purchased this kit they switched to the replica which is far inferior in my experience. There's a huge ordeal that goes along with the terrable kit right from the start but it's too much to type. After this, I swore never to buy anything without an OEM part number on it from them again.

Wow that's some bullshit. Sounds like something they'd do though. Everything they make is crap.

There's no reason to buy ANYTHING from them, OEM or not...I've found their prices are generally much higher than other retailers.

I would buy a set of used 993 calipers and rebuild if necessary. LA Porsche dismantlers always has some FS or try car-part.com

Yep. I mostly use there site to reference part numbers and look at pics of OEM parts. Their database is worth using, lol.

I'll take a look at those places. Thanks Ed!

928GTS are the exact same with swapped crossover pipes and black instead of red.

Have you tried calling Sunset Porsche?

Not quite - there is a 1mm difference in offset, which equals a 1mm outboard gap and a 3mm inboard gap when over a 30mm thick rotor :bangshead:
2005 A4 Ultrasport - K04'd, AEB head, GIAC tuned, still pokey
2001 TT 225 quattro Roadster - Stage 2+, looking for B&M shifter
2001 S4 - Tial 770R'd 3.1 stroker coming
1988 80 quattro - 4.2 powered FrankenAudi made from 13 cars and counting...

Yup, I did the same in order to center... But when I say interchangeable it was referring to the use of his existing bracket... I had forgotten about the shaving though
