Re: Alternator Ground

Doesn't it ground out on a common chassis ground, driver's side on the front of the car?
I imagine it does but I found that with my UrS it needed a little help. Example, I have the 2.0T coils installed before I bought the car and was grounded to the valve cover. I ran a ground from that bolt and ...

So then I'd assume to ground the alternator I would need to run it from one of the mounts?

Alternator Ground

I was looking at getting my power as clean and good to the battery as possible on my 92 UrS4 and was thinking of putting a ground on the alternator per quite a few articles I read.

Temp sensor and ignition coil question

Hey guys,

So I fixed a problem with the coolant line from the turbo to water manifold on my 92 UrS4. Now my temp gauge isn't working. I have a feeling that the temp sensor for the gauge is the larger 4 pin one next to the after run temp sensor? I noticed that the connector was crumbling so I'm ...

Re: Still have bucking 92 UrS4

Good points, this typically happens more when it's warm out. That's why I was surprised when it happened a few days ago in the early morning (before the sun was up). But last fall this happened on a chilly day early morning and then hasn't happened again till last week. But in the summer I find I ...

Re: Still have bucking 92 UrS4

Hi All, thanks for the discussion on this...

So the bucking happens violently enough to, maybe not throw you, move you forward in your seat. Like you hit the brakes pretty hard in an emergency brake.

As for being able to repeat it, I can only repeat it during the same driving session. Example, it ...

Re: Still have bucking 92 UrS4

How about those codes?

What does the tach needle do when this happens?

Describe what you mean by a buck. Does a one second buck mean no power at all for a second?
No codes when I've had it checked. I wasn't able to check it over the past week due to a crazy work schedule.

The tach needle does ...

Re: Still have bucking 92 UrS4

I'm sure it's not overboost with mine. I also have a forged DV on there that I clean and lube every few months with my oil change.

I know what fuel cut feels like, this isn't it.

I know what missing feels like, this isn't it.

I'm pretty sure this is a boost leak after thinking about it and ...

Re: Still have bucking 92 UrS4

I was thinking of doing something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Vibrant-2691-Anod ... B0018033OQ an auto vacuum manifold. This way when/if I convert to vacuum brakes and get rid of the bomb I will have a source.

Anyone use one of those and have a brand they would recommend or a reason I shouldn't?

Re: Still have bucking 92 UrS4

My 200 behaved the exact same way when my vacuum lines had disintegrated to nothing. 4th or 5th gear under partial load bucked so violently it felt like the car was trying to throw you off.

I dunno if there were any codes, but boost leaks would be the first thing I would check.
That sounds almost ...

Re: Still have bucking 92 UrS4

Good question, this is not full boost. I'll put "bar" on the trip computer and watch it but there's normally quite a bit more to go in my car than what it was giving at the time.

And the bucking happens, violently, until I let up on the accelerator. A full buck is about a full second long as well ...

Still have bucking 92 UrS4

My 92 UrS4 gave me some bucking this morning while driving. I had thought it had gone away because I put a new grand wire on the head (where the 2.0T coils are grounded) and it hasn't happened since October till now.

Conditions this morning:
About 25 degrees out and dry.
Driving at 70mph, pushed ...

Re: H2O pump/Belt

Continental for the belt for sure.

On the water pump, there aren't many great choices in my opinion. I settled for a Graf on the latest tbelt job on my avant. I'm sure it'll be fine, but I've had semi bad luck with grafs in the past.
Thanks for the reply. Continental was the belt brand I couldn ...

I was thinking of pulling the bulb if that's faster to get to and then get under the car when it's above freezing out. How difficult was it to pull the cluster out?
