My audi CQ 3B S2 build

Post by araipilot »

New to this forum been using motorgeeks for a while but on with the thread. Ok here I have a 1991 Audi Coupe Quattro that I am building. Almost complete, been working on it since mid Nov 2012 and many many hours and thousands of dollars later it is nearing completion. I got the car off a motorgeeker that ran out of motivation to finish the car and I took over. The complete undercarrage was sand blasted and powder coated along with all new bushings, 034 mounts and control arms. Not to sure about what type of coil overs are on there but all new.

The Motor was from a low mileage 200 20vTQ. I believe it was right around 100k. The motor was dissasembled by the other chap but he just took the head off and saw there was still cross hatchings in the cylinders so didn't venture down the " While im in here" road. He left that to me, so I have since pulled the motor again and decided to do a full build. The block was decked, line boared and rehoned with oversized JE pistons with Integrated Engineering rods, RS2 main and Rod bearings and crank polished ARP main and Head stud kit with over sized ARP washers.

The head was decked got new light weight lifters, new valve seals and a good port and polishing to smooth out all the rough casting. The valves are stock, will need to address this later with stainless steel exhaust valves at the very least. New low and high oil pressure sending units audi S2 engine harness, RS2 elipisoide headlights, RS2 IC, S2 front and rear bumpers, Volk racing forged rims with 5x112mm bolt pattern. Fully custom built 3' t304 SS exhaust side mount. Porsche boxster brembo front brakes, A8 rotors, audi A4 rear brake upgrade.

Battery has been relocated to the boot to make room for the motor, A/C has been removed by previous owner and battery lines routed through old A/C line location so no a/c any time soon as would be major redesign at this point. Got rid of the distributor and wired in the coil on plug .AAN ecu that I purchased via motorgeeker (Brent) The car is completely stock turbo and engine managment as I am trying to sort out all the little bugs and get the motor running solid before any horse power modifications take place but very very soon.

Looking to get about 600 Bhp or 450WHP but with reliability, hence the full engine rebuild. Still trying to source all the parts for an O1E swap, it would be easier to get an honest anwser out of a politician than it would be to source all the parts required. Best clutch for this hp level any suggestions from any one? Still looking for a good propshaft from the 4k but all I have seen, which aren't many, have rust issues big time and with the HP levels I am going after and the money I have already spent it just seems like it would be wise to err on the side of caution and wait to find one in good nick than to settle for a less than par condition.

Looking at the GTX3576r with .65 A/R can't remeber off the top of my head w/ tuning coming from Hank, we need to discuss this more Hank. Of course all this would have not been possible if I didn't have help from Chris and Brent who have helped me out tremedously with the wiring on this car also the hard to find parts, thank you both! I think I have everything listed except for the wide body kit that will be coming very soon! Stay tuned. Hope to see you all at BBQ 2013!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers to all my fellow addicts  :ty:

Ok I tried to open an account with photo bucket but no luck, any other way to load pics on there that doesn't require 4 year engineering degree?

Thanks

Most people use Photobucket. They've recently changed their website, but it has always been pretty straightforward.

What was the problem that you are having there? Actually signing up or uploading images?

You can also use the 12V.org to host some photos...http://12v.org/urs/

Thanks good to be here as well. Having issues with my oil pressure signal to activate the gauge. Have power to the volt and oil temp. I have change the wires at the oil pressure switch made sure I had a ground signal at the T2i plug, replaced the oil pressure ssending unit itself and nothing.. Getting confused here. Good news is Chris stopped by and helped me sort out my window issue, plug not in place in the back of the relay. I believe the K72s slot, can't remember too many wiring diagrams popping in and out of the head. Still need to sort out ABS light coming on and Oil pressure warning light on the instrument cluster. Reverse lights too. Not much left but very tedious to sort.

No doubt, trying to convince him to start with a 20v at least and not the 20v 112BHP audi 80. Thanks to Darin we got a new trans and clutch put in his 80 and new shifter so his car is shifting like new.

Stopped by the shop today to offer some moral support and try to help out with some wiring. Hope we made a little bit of progress there.

Anyway, I tried to snap a couple pics, but the lighting was compromised from the garage door windows...oh well...

Judging by just those couple of pictures, I would have to agree on the one of the nicest conversions around comment. Looking good and great to have you and your project at the Pad.

Thanks I appreciate it, I have spent alot of time massaging this car, if something wasn't right I reingineered the part to fit better also to make it more functional. Alot of work goes into these things and I have learned this first hand with this build for sure

Chris thanks for stopping by, got the windows working it was that little wire. Thanks for posting those pics really helps out alot as I can't get photobucket to accept my new account for some crazy reason. Until I get that sorted I will just have to send you some sample pics to keep the thread going, again a big thanks for your time

Cheers Mate :)

After looking at the car and knowing what kind of HP I will be running I decided that some louvers were in order to vacate heat from both the turbo charger and the radiator to take car of not only heat soak but also the hight heat under the bonnett. It took me about 4 hours to get everything lined up but I finally started the cutting

Did a test drive today and when the fan went on it was blowing right out of the vent very very functional, I know some might not like it but I have to say for heat evacuation it hits the spot. Also the one over the turbo is brilliant.
